20 things men over 30 must stop doing!

I found myself laughing out loud at most of these. Thankfully, at 50 (:woot:), I am not really in violation of any (many?) of them. I do think "musicians" might get a pass on a couple of the wardrobe related ones.

Thoughts, fellow TBers?

I like European fashion / Italian fashion...but when skinny is too skinny, its just ugly. and the opposite is also true...too flimsy is too flimsy.

They need to make mens wear that has AI built in so the cuffs automatically adjust and the pants ends adjust as well and never....NEVER stick to your damn socks!

I agree with the vast majority of the article. I am, however, guilty of a few.

I will, occasionally, let some loud music fly from my truck. That being said, it is usually somethimg girly from KidzBop which makes my daughters and the moms in the grocery store parking lot smile. Windows down. Daughters laughing and dancing. Ladies laughing. Good times.

And I will go about 5 posts too far into a TBOT debate on occasion. I guess you could call that a cyber argument.

But, again, the majority of it is spot on.

Some of my musican buddies still think they are 25 (when they are in their mid 40s).

It is incredibly sad to see a guy with a receding hairline, a black Crate T-shirt, ripped jeans, an earring, some sort of black leather bracelet and or necklace, and a gut sitting on his futon eating pizza under his G&R poster when I show up to pick him up for a paying gig.

By the way older guys, the only thing sadder than shorts, a backwards beanie hat, or a hawiian print shirt on stage is a black T-shirt from ANY amp or guitar manufacturer. Might as well wear a Braided leather belt and pleated khaki pants.

Oh yeah. The article should include ANY artwork made from beer bottles, beer labels, beer bottle caps, beer mirrors, beer pool table lights, beer neon of any kind.... or any neon lights of any kind. I could deal with the Scarface poster better than beer decor.

I'm not guilty of many of them (and I'm also not yet 30), but a couple of the items on the list make me think that whoever put it together doesn't like to have fun. What's wrong with beer pong or paintball??

Also, I enjoyed the fact that the author made a list of borderline argumentative (certainly inflammatory) remarks ... one of which being, don't argue on the internet? So you are allowed to make disparaging remarks toward the way people choose to live, but if we were to argue back then we are immature? lol (see what I did there?)

I agree with everything in the link with the exception of allowing exceptions to cranking music such as "I'm Sailing Away" or "Gin n Juice". Those aren't exceptions. There are others though.

I don't wear flat brimmed caps but I do have my SFGiants cap on backwards right now. I don't care what some journalist thinks about my appearance. I think he is funny looking too. I do admit that I only do a few of the things he mentioned. I also have this hanging in my man cave. HA! Take that you so-called trend setters.

Yeah, I'm guilty of a few of them. However:

- I'll keep my biker wallet-with-chain, thank you very much; not only de rigueur, but practical too. And the "Harley Davidson" on it is mandatory!
- Yeah, I still have a flip phone. Only gets turned on when I need to use it. Besides, 10 minutes outside of Vegas, cell phones are useless, anyway; and I spend as much time as possible a lot further away from this place than that. Mine's just as useless as a new one.
- Yeah, I still go to "the club". I'm a retired combat veteran, and I'm entitled to go to the VFW club if I want.
- I don't crank random music up loud, but I do crank stuff like early Beatles 'way up sometimes. It's FUN to make the pickups with blaring Mexican music, and big-wheeled low-riders with trunk-rattling rap, roll up their windows. :D

As for the rest; pretty funny, and some pretty good advice, as well.:)

I think the phrase "the answer is in the question" applies here.

Going down the list
25. What "club"? You mean the one I'm playing at? FU
24. Sure. I'm not sure what TapOut is, but I see it a lot on pick up trucks, so I probably wasn't interested in the first place.
23. I'll short hand whatever the hell I want. STFU
22. I have a better idea; don't golf.
21. A LOT of guys of different ages from Jr High up have piercings today. FU
20. Only if women get rid of their stupid Honor Student and "here's my family" bumper stickers first.
19. The graphic tees are out. That's not an age thing.
18. I have a great reason for bumping my music; I like it. Don't like it? EAD!
17. Knit caps are stupid for any man, of any age, that isn't actively skying, walking in a place where there is snow, or hunting white whales. Teens look just a stupid in them as grown men.
16. NO ONE over the age of 10 should watch Pro Wrestling.
15. Where a person lives is none of anyone else's business. FU
14. You can, absolutely, positively, 100% smoke my pole. I've loved metal since I was a teen and have grown with the genre as it has changed. It beats the daylights out of any of the crap on the radio, so I see no reason to stop listening to it. FU
13. Drinking games are lame for all people of all ages. If you want to drink, just shut up and drink. If you have to find ways to tease yourself with it you are an alcoholic.
12. Still having a flip phone isn't a sign of age, its a sign of intense cheapness and/or phobia about technology.
11. Why are you checking out my wallet? Its a #$&ing wallet, not a fashion statement.
10. I will capitulate that choreographed handshakes are a teen thing, and should stay there.
9. No one should wear flat brimmed hats.
8. If I'm just going somewhere for the weekend, I'm not going to dig out my luggage. When I get on a plane, my carry on is a duffel bag. FU
7. Horns up \m/
6. See 13.
5. Aren't online arguments as lame as online lists ;)
4. Who the hell irons anything anymore? My wife doesn't know how to use one on anything besides crafts. Isn't everything "wrinkle free?" If you bought something that needs ironing you're a dolt.
3. There are some 30+ guys that will destroy you at paintball! BTW Paintball > Golf.
2. Lifted trucks are stupid period.
1. How about using any movie poster to decorate your house?
