$200 Ric! Too good to be true?

Ummm but uh what if his account is hacked and the guy who hacked it read through enough of his saved emails to figure out how to act like him closely enough. And he found an email that said you wanted a ric so that he made up a story. I would have him post youtube videos of him playing the bass and show the serial number. In the video he should also say hi to you by name. If it is legit he can do this. However he can still scam you by not sending it. I like the idea of him sending first, howver he has a right to think you are not trustworthy either. After all you are just his MYSPACE friend too.

Well, he went yesterday and looked at them. He said hes pretty sure theyre real, but Im still requesition serial number. Im trying to do the video idea, but I dont want to rush anything. Im waiting until he says he acutally owns them to do these things. The comment about them being "hot", you never know. I dont know how I would verify that they weren't?:(

I bought a new '89 for around $650. I bought a new custom factory all black fretless, black hardware, black binding, etc. for $550.00 in 1990. I knew someone. :hiding:

Do I beat myself up mentally for selling each and every one of them?? ....every day of my life. :crying:

Will I ever be able to afford one today? no!

Update. Its been a looong time, and I totally quit communicatiogn with the guy. He said he went to pick them up, and the lady had resorted to eBay all of the sudden. He seemed suspicious, but that was enough. Just thought Id throw it out there.

Yeah, it was only a few monthes ago, but reading some stories on here has changed my mind on things like this. I never did meet the guy, so I was always suspicious. But if youre a 16 y.o. who is dying for a Ric, these kinds of things sound AMAZING. I just read that thread abou the guy sending his cash to a website, and found out it was the wrong one. They threw a dash into the url, making it different. I think Ill think a tad more before getting that serious online, with a stranger, again.

Check it out before you put any cash down. Give it a good look over, give it a good play and go from there.

For $250, I'd take it sight unseen . . . with a Ric commanding anywhere from $1000 to $4000 these days.

(edited) -nevermind. Just read the rest of the thread. I interpreted "a friend" as already having possession of these. And not "a myspace friend", but a friend who is coincidentally on myspace.

Never mind. Save your lunch money.

It doesn't matter anymore. The "deal" is long gone.

Thanks for clearing that up EricF. This deal is looong gone. I havent even communicated with him since then. As I said, I put some thought into it and discovered it counded completely ridiculous. I was just so intrigued my a $200 Ric, that I wasnt thinking straight.
