2000s Squier vs MIM J-Bass Necks

Are the necks the same on the Squier and the MIM Jazz Bass? I bought new pots and pickups for my Squier but would like to install them on a better bass; might get a new bridge too. The neck on the Squier feels cheap and the truss rod sucks. Neck felt better to me on the MIM but that could be my brain lying to me bassed on it being more expensive, hence "better."

What Squier is it? If it's an Affinity, then that makes sense. However, I have seen, felt, and played Squier Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe jazz necks that were helluva lot better than MIM AND MIA basses. No BS whatsoever. I played a Squier '77 VM jazz bass today and the neck....gahhhh

I was thinking of getting a new body from Fender too since my pickup cavities are from the pre-modified era (same size pickups) and I can't install ANY aftermarket pickups unless I either file away a bit of the wood on my current body or get a new one. I never liked sunburst anyways but whatever.

The body of Affinities are I believe basswood or agathis...very cheap and lower quality wood. I find screws strip easier on softer woods like basswood. Not to say basswood sucks: a lot of high end Musicmans are made of basswood, but lower quality basswood will be...duh...lower quality.

If you're gonna replace the neck and body, just get a used MIM on CL, ebay or here on TB Classifieds.
