2008 Fender Update

What exactly is this update that fender had? I keep hearing how people love it and only want fender basses that are used post 2008, but what was it that made it special? How does it differ from earlier fenders?
I recently bought a 2006 am. std. how does that compare to a > 2008?
Would it be worth selling or trading my bass for a 2008 or later?
Basically what is this update and is it worth it?

I believe that was also the year they introduced the graphite rods in the neck, rolled fretboard edges, lightweight tuners, HMV bridge, and a thinner Poly finish. Supposedly their QC had been stepped a bit up as well.
I don't know how accurate the claims about the QC are, but I do know my '08 Jazz is the most well made bass I've ever played, yet alone owned.

Wrong. They have been doing graphite rods since 1995! Also, although claims of better quality, I have been through 3 post '08 American Fenders. They're all gone now and I still have my '04 American P bass. The others had nothing on it.

It is not worth it if you dig yours. Truly not as much difference. More hype. The bridge is different. FWIW, I see zero benefit in the newer bridge, especially if you're stringing thru the body. Finishes somewhat different. Maybe a little more consistency but if you've got a good pre '08, I'd stick with it unless you find a particular instrument you prefer.

Thanks
all I really needed to hear.
I love my 06 and I don't think I will be selling it any time soon.
