2011 NFL Preseason/ The Beginning

Looks like DHB has really been working hard this preseason. He concentrated and made some catches that would have been off the facemask and out of bounds last season. And how about Yamon Figurs!!! I saw him make some great receptions, as well.
I don't know 'bout no Reggae Boosh, I'd rather have Ya mon! Figurs ;)

Corny enough for ya?

Tebow looked decent last night. First I'd seen him play.

Sorry to say it Mike, but you Steeler guys are in it deep with Big Bubba out for a while. All the other QB's played BAD last night.

I just now realized the Cowboys fared worse in Houston though

But I see that as a good sign . See each SB season the Cowboys had, their preseason sucked.

:D

God Bless, Ray

And we (Steelers) killed ourselves with penalties. If there was any bright spot for the Steelers last night, it was the rookie Center, Marquis Pouncey. (Apologies if I spelled his first name wrong.) I tried to watch him as much as I could, and he looked like a veteran out there. Pointing out defenses, good blocking, etc.

But yeah, looks like it's gonna' be a tough season for us.

As bad as all starters not scoring a single point? and having 2 turnovers?

I thought Tebow looked pretty solid last night. He's coming right along.

I'm a Pack fan, and I'm very encouraged by what I see there. If their D matches the offense, they'll go deep this year. There's only one team in the NFC north to challenge them, mainly because they have one of the greatest QBs in history. Without him, the Vikes aren't even a playoff team.

The good news for the Pack is that Rodgers looks like he's shaping into one of the top QBs in the NFL...and I'll also note that he's a PAC-10 guy. Love to see those PAC-10 QBs doing well.

I thought Pouncey played great last night in his first NFL start. He got thrown around a few times by Jamal Williams, but Jamal is a good NT. I'd still like to see Hartwig start at C though with Pouncey at RT.

I am so through with the Keenan Lewis experiment. Nice story, but the guy is JV material. He broke a glass sign last week out of frustration, took two PFs last night, and played poorly. I am so hoping to see his name on the cut list on Tuesday.

I am in Inverness right now. How far away am I?

Then how far is it from Jax to Tampa? I fly out from Tampa on Friday at noon.

-Mike

Mike -

Inverness to Jax is a pretty long haul, 3-4 hours at least. Going back to Tampa add another 90-ish minutes to the airport.

Man, Inverness gives me memory jogs...my first wife's family lives there, used to spend a lot of time on Lake Tsala Apopka....

Good luck if you make the trip!

Niners play their last preseason game tonight. Not that it means much - I doubt any of the main offensive players play more than one series.

Singletary had the team playing better last year and while the very young (both 1st rounders appear to be starting) offensive line will struggle, the team should continue on its upswing. Brian Westbrook joins Gore, Vernon Davis, and Crabtree to give Alex Smith as many weapons as he's ever had.

At this point Smith has shown that he won't be a great quarterback (as a Cal guy I still hate that we didn't take Rodgers) but if he can be serviceable and the defense plays as well as it did last year the 49ers should win the NFC West.

Not saying much when the Rams are still awful, Seattle is transitioning under Pete Carroll and the Cardinals look to take a step back without Warner and Boldin, but winning the division would be a nice step forward for my guys.

Well dang, Lewis dodged another round of cuts today. One more chance to see him go bye bye.

In other news, I am disappointed that Goodell cut the ban for Ben to four games. I think he should have left it at six.
