This has been bothering me all night:
The 210AV is listed @ 26 pounds, I am a little concerned about the construction of this amp if two of those are bowing the amps housing :-/

As much as we love Jimmy's rig(s), the head is not designed to hold that much weight. Or at least that is not part of our usual testing. Maybe we should add a special JimmyM testing procedure?

LOL! Yeah, come on now, PRD...obviously I'm misusing the product in a way they never expected.

:D

Seriously though, I solved my problem. Bought a shelf at Home Depot that spans the length and width of the head for about $6, I put amp feet on the corners of it, and I'm good to go. The shelf sags a bit, but the head doesn't sag at all now. Only problem is the wood is brown pseudo-wood finish but it'll do till I can find a black one.

Now about the hologram message, I suggest a positive message for the kids, like "All good boys and girls sleep with their hands above the covers."

Chances are, the shelf is made with particle board. I hear that that stuff doesn't sound as good as plywood. :p

If you can find a piece of stronger ¾" baltic birch and cover it with fabric store vinyl the shelf might perform better. The vinyl would be non slip, unlike the pseudo-wood.

Just put another pair (or pairs) of feet in the center. They're not sitting in footcups, they're just touching the head so it shouldn't matter how you position them and they should give you a little more support in the center.

I had an Ampeg V4-BH back in the 90's. It looked about the same as the new one and was approximately the same weight ... is this reissue V4-B the same as the one I had? If not, what's different about it?

I believe they are totally different amps. The V4BH was based on the SVT-CL front end, with a 100watt power section. It had similar aesthetics to the SVC CL. The new V4B is based on the old V4B, but with different power tubes than the old one had. The power tubes used in the old V4Bs are no longer readily available. The new V4B is supposed to be very similar in sound to the old one. The V4BH was kind of it's own thing.
