"Salad days" is a Shakespearean idiomatic expression meaning a youthful time, accompanied by the inexperience, enthusiasm, idealism, innocence, or indiscretion that one associates with a young person. A more modern use, especially in the United States, refers to a heyday, a period when somebody was at the peak of their abilities—not necessarily in that person's youth. The quote "salad days" is from the Shakespearean play Antony and Cleopatra and is spoken in Act 1, Scene 5, by Cleopatra.
History
The phrase was coined in Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra in 1606.[1] In the speech at the end of Act One in which Cleopatra is regretting her youthful dalliances with Julius Caesar she says:[2]
...My salad days, / When I was green in judgment, cold in blood...
The phrase became popular only from the middle of the 19th century, coming to mean “a period of youthful inexperience or indiscretion."

I first heard this expression used by Nicolas Cage's character in the Coen brother's Raising Arizona. I feel like COVID-19 has made us all grow up a bit.
All things considered, we should probably start planning for a fall GTG. Illinois is looking at Shelter In Place until the middle or end of April. And even if we are given the "all clear" on April 30, many states still will not be, will anyone really want to travel for a social event, and my guess is that Jake will have his hands full with other things.
Just my two cents. Certainly not my call, but just realistic feedback. Sorry if this rains on anyone's parade.

I'm in Wisconsin, and was planning on coming down.
Wisconsin is in Shelter in place until April 24th
I have had this thought as well, but my$0.02 is that making a decision at this time is still a little too early
I'm not going to see anyone I don't have to until there's a vaccine. Or it's been confirmed that I already had the virus and I'm not contagious OR susceptible.
I will not be responsible for infecting my kids grandparents due to some childish desire to "return to normal" before it is safe.
Edit to add: This comes off WAAAY more intense than I intended. I'm just trying to say, think about the consequences. We currently live in a time where selfishness can mean death for yourself, or loved ones.

Well sadly, I emailed Jake Serek, and we both agree postponing is the best idea right now, so...
Illinois shelter in place until April 30th. Wise decision to postpone. Please be safe everyone.
I am leaving this thread open, since there’s a good amount of chatter. No idea on a reschedule date as no one knows what’s going to happen. Hope everyone is staying healthy and sane, and practicing more than I am

Glad this got postponed. Most importantly because of the COVID-19 bug, but also on a personal level - will be in the middle of a house move first week of May, if all goes according to plan! (HAVING to move wasn't exactly on my "to-do" list for 2020, but hey.)

All good here... except Mrs. Eli may be getting a little tired of me. This GTG wasn't the only thing I had canceled!
Had to go into the office today, Waze took me by Serek's place due to traffic-pocalypse... Snow a year and a day after last year's GTG?

Holy moly that's amazing!
Yeah, not only snow (gone since about noon but mebbe more coming) but black ice so there were major Xpwy accidents including a 50+, hence, "traffic-pocalypse".
