2020 Current MUSICian Status POLL: Pick Two!

WHAT'S YOUR CURRENT STATUS? (you can't pick more than two, or change your vote!):

  • Total voters
    296
  • Poll closed .
I picked 7 and 8..... although #4 fits me, too.

#7 - I've been playing long enough to be able to learn songs pretty quickly and fake things as necessary, but at the same time I'm not the quickest on my feet if I have to improvise on the fly. On the occasions that has happened to me, I'll hold back and play less notes instead of a boatload of wrong notes.

#8 - I'm reliable. If I've got a gig, I'll be there on time and be prepared.

Before the madness? I was doing 200 dates a year, 22 acts last year alone, AND working two day jobs. Today? I'm a hack. Heh. I've no clue what to pick on the poll. I made far more playin than my 2 day jobs, an now it's all gone.
i feel for you. and for others who have a dependence on gig money. even though i'm retired (and more of a "has-been") i too, could appreciate the extra dough. although TBH: i just miss the moments of playing. i hope that you end up landing on your feet and i hope that your current situation 'clears' as fast as it can for you. hang in!

:D well, mike: in my life, i've been all of them --- every one of them! another poster said as much, too. i think most would check a bunch if it had been "check all that have ever applied to you." even without the virus: my current status is much more modest compared to my past 'great deeds'!

thanks for taking the poll!

edit: clarity

Thank you for that. The last couple years has been a trial. I was just gettin on my feet from other personal issues. I was feelin great. Then this hit. I had put some funds back. In case. I am single, no kids, so my life wasn't typical, but worked for me. Just bad timing. Things are improving now. Slowly. Jobs are starting again this week. I've acquired skills over the years, and have been able, with help from wonderful friends, to keep my head above water. I am eatin. I am healthy. And in that I am blessed. But darn it! I like to play. I like to work. And take care of myself. Without help from other institutions. The hardest thing? Sitting. Thinking too much. But I have faith it'll get back to fairly normal. And I'm motivated. To say the least. And I've learned some valuable lessons. I'm praying for all of us. Whether bass guitarists, HVAC techs, moving and flooring businesses, everyone. This has been tough. I'm tougher. I hope. Ha! Again, thank you. Very much. My thots are fer all here. And I hope to be filling the world with beautiful music again. Very soon...
