2020 Current MUSICian Status POLL: Pick Two!

Unemployed journeyman. My BL put up a new calendar starting with gigs in June; I sure hope we're back in business by then! It comes as a bit of a shock--I suppose it shouldn't--to realize that not only does Redhead give me purpose in life, the band is also my social scene. Right now, not getting either. This is a picture from our last gig, March 7. Feels like another lifetime:
Wow, I guess agree to disagree, but I find it incredibly insulting to call someone an amateur or wannabe based on how much their job pays.seems like he would be a scientist (like a "musician") and possibly an "expert" or "skilled" --- but if the cat had to work two jobs in order to be a "scientist" he might qualify as a "wannabe" which is aspirational.
your disagreement with any of my take is cool! this isn't meant to be insulting. i'm not exactly flattered by one of my own "current" choices. take the poll --- it'll be fun to see the results!

Yeah, somebody told me once that my face, when I play the bass, it looks like some sortuva uh eh like a big uh jellyfish or something like that, it just keeps moving you can never identify what the face is, a real ugly sometimes and real weird looks like a foot or something or just like it be flashing at me like it's rubber, rubber or something. So I'm down with purritas and pranish, it's all good either way
Just a thought about how this poll may not be entirely accurate. Right now very few of us who were previously employed still are. This is especially true of musicians. Last month's working pros are today's hobbyists. The other factor to consider is the ego of the voter. There are those who should adopt "If you suck and you know it clap your hands (clap clap). If you suck and you know it clap your hands (clap clap)…" as their theme song, may believe themselves to be in the "Musical Icon/Bass GOD" category when the rest of the universe knows this is diametrically opposed to the truth. Their vote is not, repeat NOT accurate and skews the poll results. Not to mention they clutter up the "Musical Icon/Bass GOD" result bar and cause those few of us who deserve to be there to rub elbows with hacks and posers. Pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon?

I'm not the man I used to be. I've played some decent work down the line, I have played deps for a few good players, Andy McKinney for one, James Taylor's bassist, he wasn't at the time of course. Interests change, bass saved me from the wickedness of the world for many years. I wasn't interested in that world, mine was all about music and bass, and all the stuff that comes with it...

I'm pursuing a Master's degree in musicology, so I'm not actually a musician but will still make music my day job... If that makes sense lol.
That's why I voted expert but I feel preposterous for doing so. In Europe, musicology mostly means history of music and some music theory. When it comes to theory, I feel any professional musician knows more than we do (the American school is heavier on the music analysis from what I gather). And of course that says nothing about actually being able to play or sightread anything we study. For example, right now I'm writing a paper on the genesis of Schönbergs twelve-tone row in one of his piano pieces. Just please don't ask me to play it for you...
i've been a fan of schönberg off and on in my life...mostly in my younger years, and i've never played any of it either. but i don't know what you know, or how you came to know it! no doubt you're an "expert" --- you certainly are in this poll! flaunt it!That's why I voted expert but I feel preposterous for doing so.
