had a friend weld up the wings, sorry I didn't get a pick of them before grinding them down, his welds looked fantasic! Got the welds ground down as far as I dare and got everything wet sanded down to 400 grit. My wife liked the "Brushed look" of the 400 grit (and my fingers liked the idea of stopping) so I think that's where the aluminum is going to stay.

They look great, but how flexible are they? You're not gonna have any bracing in the wings?

got the sanding of the neck pretty much done, wings drilled, and test fit the electronics. With everything on it, minus frets, strings, bridge, and nut. She weighed in at 6lbs, 4.5oz or 2.8kg.

Finally got the Bridge ordered from Nova Guitar Parts in Brazil, now to hope and pray it gets delivered in a timely manner so I can get this done by the deadline!

Surprisingly strong! I was worried about them being too soft (I did most of the bending with my bare hands) but once it was welded and screwed to the neck it doesn't flex at all under it's own weight. that being said it probably won't handle being dropped to the ground.

OK, nothing on this since post #1 (unless I missed it:D). Please update us.

Update was in today's post. shipped out yesterday. No idea how long shipping takes from Brazil to US though. He sent me the blueprints but I'm afraid to trim things to exact specs with just the drawings to go by. Will most likely need to notch out the heel for the tuner knobs once it shows.

My orders from Nova took about 3 weeks to arrive, IIRC. And I am the same, I am much more comfortable using the actual piece than using measurements. It's not like I can't measure or don't trust myself, but having the part is way more comfortable, something about the way my brain works. When I'm doing complex shaping, I often can't picture the final result until I'm half way through.
