P Cheen

Alembics and parametric mid knobs scare me.

Well, this came as a surprise. A blast from the past! A San Dimas (pretty much a P bass) line of basses from Charvel’s Pro-Mod line.
From what I’m seeing, the 4 string models are (reverse) PJ and the 5 are JJ and 35” in scale length. They go for $899-999. Very tempting price point. They also have active 3-band EQs and a compound radius of 12-16”.
These are probably made in Mexico too, like the Pro-Mod guitars.

My favorite is this Lambo Green Metallic V:

Release date seems to be late Feb- early March.

They are made in Mexico and looks like they have thin necks. Looks like a BA II copy bridge with MIJ Fender tuners. Will be curious to see if they are the same or better built than MIM Fenders.
The BAII is the one that Kluson makes, pretty good quality if you ask me. And I’ve owned both Fender Hi-Mass and Kluson Hi-Mass.

IME with the Pro-Mod guitars, they are better quality than the Player Series. I didn’t own either, just from a small sample size in my local music shop.

35" was what I was hoping they'd try on the five string Ultra basses. I'd really like to try one of these, either the 4 or the five. I only wish the hardware wasn't gold. Not a fan of gold hardware, but if I really liked how it played, I'd overlook that. Can I assume the string spacing at the bridge would be 19mm.
