2021 Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass

I'm surprised there are no sound samples or videos of these anywhere. None I could find anyway.
I went ahead and ordered 1.. they had me at lime green
I am definitely NOT in the market for a bass right now but I agree that lime green is killer.
These Charvels have a reverse P split coil, roasted maple neck, a high mass bridge, and a 3-band EQ.
they really aren't alike at all. The ESP is passive with an ebony fretboard and a pick guard.... The San Dimas is active with a reverse P pickup, maple neck and no pick guard..
While I don’t doubt Indo (and especially Korean) LTDs, this Pro-Mod series from Charvel is absolutely top notch. At least the guitars are. They probably compare to entry-level American guitars.
(But nowadays American-made means nothing but more $$$)

Not crazy about active basses, does anyone know if these have an active/passive switch?
Look what showed up this morning... Finally took it out of the box and I'm absolutely loving it. Going to let it acclimate longer before I start messing with it, but I can't stop looking at it.
Gotta say this bass was one of the surprises and highlights of 2021. I wasn't sure what to think about the dark green 5 string until one of the teaser shots showed it against some stage lighting; now I am in GAS mode.

How are you liking the bass? I've been wanting one of these since they were announced.
So I've been playing bass for less than a year and though I have several (budget) basses already, this is my first even remotely "nice" one. In short: I absolutely love it.
The neck & fretboard are fantastic. None of my cheaper instruments can compare to this. I was already thinking of selling 1-2 of them; now I'm certain they're just going to collect dust if I don't. All of the hardware is just more substantial than what I'm used to - the string tree and the bridge are solid chunks of metal, not flimsy cost-saving stamped bits. I'm running it through a Geddy Lee Sansamp into a Rumble 40, and am really digging the sound I can get.
There are a couple of "eh" things about it that I'm working through:
- That roasted maple neck is just stunning - especially against the lime green. But no joke, my left hand ends up smelling vaguely of maple syrup after I've been playing for an extended period. Hoping this will diminish over time.
- There's a tiny 1 square millimeter bump in the finish on the back of the neck behind the 9th fret on mine, looks like a drop of glue got where it shouldn't. You can even see that someone attempted to rub it off. It's not huge or sharp or anything, just a little distracting to keep noticing it when playing fast. I don't think it's worth me shipping the bass back across the country to the retailer for a return, but I think I'm going to reach out to Charvel and see if there's anything they can do for me.
