You've just saved me some trouble. I liked 370Ms but they were too quiet.

Now that I got the spiros back on I backtrack my statement on the bowing, they bow just as well, or I’m just maybe used to them, maybe it’s because they we’re new but that Corelli g string had a has a really strange overtone that was kind of hard to describe, the closest thing I can think of is the sound of a pop tube expanding.

That was fast!

Hey I like what I like :roflmao:! I’m more sad that I forfeited the contest than spending the money on the experiment. I lowered my string height some when I put the spiros back on to 4.5 to 6.5ish, which really upped the playability, and retained the volume, it’s really amazing what a change of strings can do to an acoustic instrument.

brand new Spiros. Sounding and feeling great. Old set was getting a bit fragile.

I know I said I couldn't be in the challenge way back in the earliest days, but did manage to have Spiros on my Upton until last week. My left wrist has become tender (busy gig schedule and knucklehead playing too much after the gig at home). So, I replaced the Spiro D & G with EP Slap synth D & G. I also took a whole set of Spiro Mitts off my Czech Flatback and put Eurosonic White Tapewound Lights on it. Can't afford to blow my wrists out with tendonitis type issues with so many gigs on the schedule. It's fun stuff swapping out strings! Oops... I meant good luck with the challenge!

Gotta do what you gotta do; glad you've got such a full schedule though! EP Slaps and EuroSonic White should be good choices... Hope that preserves your wrists!

Break a leg (figuratively)!
They are both good choices! Got them from my "string drawer". Couldn't give up my Spiro Mitt E & A though on the Upton. They are sounding BIG right now. I'll be using the Czech Flatback with Krivo tonight at my jam session. It can get a little crowded soundwise...

We’ll see how long they last but my bass has now been switched over to Spiro weichs (4/4) with an extended E. The A and E are amazing. Overall the bass is roaring and it has loads of sustain and is a breeze to bow (I’m basically arco only). I think the volume increase is due to lower tension- had been BC for the G and D, Spiro mittel A and E.

I’m on the fence about the D string, which is a little wiry and buzzsaw sounding at times, but overall loving the set.
