2024 Musicman Stingray Colours

Wasn’t a big fan of some of the recent 2023 pastel colour options offered by Ernie Ball last year, other than the buttercream. The frost green pearl and raspberry burst looked sharp though. Hoping 2024 has some good options. Although I’m fine with traditional colours, off white, black with a tortoise pickguard. Any rumours, thoughts or hopes of what might be offered in 2024?

Exact! Good idea for a thread on this. I emailed and heard back from EBMM customer service a couple weeks ago - they say the announcement will be NAMM week - this week! I'm not going to NAMM this year, so I'm hoping that those who are going will report back here. I'm sure if there are new colors, they'll be on display at NAMM. Personally, I want them to bring back Honeyburst, classic or standard sunburst and maybe cherry burst - or Lava Burst like the Willcutt Guitars special order basses - they have some Stingray Specials in this color currently on their site. I'm also not a big fan of the pastel colors. Burnt Ends is OK.

I'm looking to order a Stingray Special 4H, but waiting to see what colors come out this year - or not. If not, then I might get Burnt Ends and get a black pickguard for it. I like that look vs the tort guard. Or I'll see about getting a Lava Burst from Willcutt, but with a rosewood board.

Not color-related, but I was kinda bummed at some news my Sweetwater rep passed on from Music Man when I inquired on a new fretless Stingray Special.

The news was that MM will not make any more fretless Stingray Specials, at least for the foreseeable future.

Oh, well, there’s always Rob Allen….:D

Snag one of the BFR models. They come up quite frequently here and on REVERB.
It’s worth the coin!!
Or buy a used Special and have it converted.

Ya know, I actually inquired about that very idea to a well-known luthier around here. He made some good points against the idea, but the tone of his response made me feel like he thought he was talking to a third-grader, especially his comment about my desire for lines.

So I will no longer pursue that idea.

Nor will I bother that individual again, no matter how highly he's regarded around here.

Yeah. A few of pros we have here seem to have started to let the praise that's thrown at them get to their heads. I value their knowledge but tend to avoid them for exactly the reason you stated. That and an inability to acknowledge the few times they are wrong gracefully.

I told you yesterday to never say never..... and look at todays Custom Shop offerings. :hyper:

Oooh... some nice colors there. I can feel the gas already building for that Ocean Sparkle and Grape Crush (or maybe the Purple Sunset).

Thank god there is no sunburst. Although the Hot Honey is sorta kinda... although a lot better looking than the circa 1955 sunburst that goes on and on and on like the Energizer Bunny. Henry Ford said you can have any color guitar you want as long as it is sunburst... oh wait... guess that was black (another overdone color).
