2025-2026 NBA Thread

As a Magic fan myself, that game was so fun to watch, even if it was far from the most competitive game we've played this season. Reports seem to be that Mosley's almost guaranteed to be fired regardless of how far we go, so I think he might've been trying to stall if that's the case. Can't wait to see how the games against the Pistons play out, even if I'm 99% sure of how the series ends
Yeah I think Mosley is toast no matter what. Unless they go on a (highly unlikely!) miracle Finals run or something. They're not last year's Pacers, unfortunately. I hope they play well and give the Pistons a good test in the first round anyways. I want to see the Pistons go deep into the playoffs and I think some early adversity in the playoffs is a good experience for a team (as long as nobody gets hurt).

Also it was great watching the game on Prime video and not having to endure the clowning type of color commentary and halftime antics that most of the other networks feature. Any game I get to watch without seeing Stephen A* Smith's stupid, pompous face even once is a good game. Instead of that nonsense, they showed a lineup of Dirk, Nash, Griffin and Haslem actually making commentary on the game. What a concept!

If I wasnt such a grandpa I'd figure out how to record the game and then forward through all the idiotic, insulting commercials. Anybody know if that's easy to do on Prime Video on Roku?

*I know what the A stands for

I'm enjoying the Prime broadcasts quite a bit. The panel of Taylor Rooks + various former players seems to have good chemistry, and their analysis of the games has more substance than you'd normally see from ESPN or TNT. I do still enjoy Inside the NBA sometimes, but it's mostly just jokes with Ernie, Shaq, Chuck, and Kenny, less in-depth basketball talk. The various play-by-play and colour commentary duos that have been on the Prime broadcasts have been solid as well. Overall, a pretty great basketball watching experience.

Impressive win for Orlando in Game #1 against Detroit yesterday! Not sure the Pistons saw that coming. It's just one game though, and you'd expect Detroit to bounce back strongly. In 2019, the Raps lost their first game (also to Orlando!) and then won four straight to win the series in five games. Then they went ahead and won the whole thing. Detroit should try to do something like that 😁

Can be. Yes.
Will be. I hope not.
And when they're on. Like yesterday. I don't think anyone can beat them.
It will be up to either Denver or San Antonio to try to eliminate OKC in the West finals. If any team is going to do it, I think it's one of those two. The West finals have the potential to be more entertaining than the actual NBA finals 🤔

Very much so!!
When I said earlier that the Thunder were on yesterday that wasn't completely accurate. SGA really had a bit of an off game. And we still won by 35.

I'm setting my hopes relatively low 😰 Really would love to see the Raps find a way to get W tonight though.
They did not, in fact, find a way.

Oh well. I know the young core are learning lots. BI needs to shake off whatever is happening. I don't think he is seeing that hard a defence than usual, but maybe he is.

What are we to do with Poeltl though, I like the guy but his value is in specific configurations only and with Quick out he isn't working out for this match up.

Yeah, it's tough. I only got to watch the second half last night. They had some nice little runs, got it close a few times, and then they'd do something silly. Lots of bad turnovers. And they got great contributions off the bench from Walter, Mamu, and CMB too. Unfortunately, the starting lineup couldn't do their part. It could have been a winnable game. I'll give props to RJ and Scottie at least. They both had some bad decisions which resulted in turnovers, but they were also playing hard and getting to the basket. They were both creating for themselves and the other guys. It's BI who was the big no-show IMHO. Terrible shooting and five turnovers. A few more points from Shead would have been nice too, but he was still very active in this game even if it didn't always result in points scored. And he's being asked to do a lot with Quick not playing. He's young and it's a great experience for him, anyways.

This is not a good matchup for Poeltl. I think the only solution is to play him a couple minutes to start the game and then put him on the bench. He only played about 9 minutes last night, and that already feels like too much. But you need to give the other guys a breather from time to time. I dunno... Try giving Mogbo a quick run at C and see what happens? Not much left to lose now. Just win one home game so it isn't a sweep.
