21" Speakers

Hey

Used in a folded horn cabinet,

Can anyone recommend me a good 21" speaker?

I know its a huge ************, and i have only seen bigger in some rickenbacker cabs.

But i have a little dream of testing the idea for bass, and will write some info about the proces, result and sound, if the project i goin in to the air.

I can only recommend that you don't use anything larger than a fifteen in a horn.

Or "the largest speaker in a horn should be a 15?"

I think it's the former.

Yeah i dont think i have seen a 70ies folded horn kabinet, with a speaker
smaller than 15"......

Allthow the 21" speaker dont have to be a 70ies speaker.

Just a good bass speaker.

You planning on playing lots 'o reggae? 21" sounds insane - I don't think I've ever seen larger than 18".

I've seen a 30" speaker from a theater subwoofer system. I wonder if two good 15's might be better than one 21", though.

AccuGroove makes the El Whappo Grande... it's a front 21" sub, not a folded horn.

Know its big, but ive just never seen it before.

Im thinking of building it in to a old school Acoustic-like cabinet.

My first interpretation of Bill's message was "When using a horn, use nothing bigger than a 15"

Of course, now I'm not sure......
and now all I can say is that if Bill says it, I'd trust that more than my own experimental curiosity.

I think it's the former.

There's some value in eighteens in direct radiators, there's none in horns. IMO there's no value in anything larger than an eighteen, period.
