215 cabs. Whats good?

+1 on peavey. For the money you really can't go wrong. I had an old peavey 412 guitar cab that literally sounded better than my ampeg 8x10. Speeaking of 12's, I use a 412 cab now. I used to use a 215 but I switched. I think the 12's are a perfect fit for midrangey, growly, p bass tone.

Who even makes 412 bass? I never see them.

How much would it cost/effort to drop the ohms? I wonder if I would dig the sound. For the price it's probably worth it.

If these are your two choices then:

1) Find the Sunn 215 and step into happiness and blissful ballsy tone.

or

2) Buy your "friend's" 610 guitar cab. With the money you save, you can buy an extra bullet for the gun you will want to stick in your mouth afterward. :bawl:

Old Sunn Concert Bass cabs with the original CTS drivers sound really good.

Seems like the vintage v4B's are pretty cool. I saw some emperor 15's that looked cool.

I couldn't find a Mesa 215 anywhere but ended up spending less and picked up a pair of mesa 115's which I imagine would not sound a whole lot different then a 215 cab. I love these cabs! They are relatively fast and articulate for 15 cabs and the horns are sweet sounding without being harsh or shrill.

My fretless tone just comes alive playing through these cabs and they go well with any amp I set on top of them. I really wanted a Mesa 215 cab but in the end, these babies are easier to move around and I can just take one of them if needed.

I've got some older ampeg 215 cabs. they sound great but are not too stable with a heavy tube head on top. I use an old peavey 215 cab loaded with jbl 2226's. It's a real tone monster with my svt pro 4. The jbls are almost indestructible. They sound great biamped with my 210 top cab.
