24 Fret short scale bass

Anybody out there know of a 24 feet short scale that won't break the bank? A birdsong would without a doubt be perfect, I just don't have the funds for one and probably won't anytime soon. I'd like to stick to ballpark $600. Any ideas would be very helpful!

my partner owns one. easily comparable to the ESP/LTD 500 series basses or Spector legend series.

hey... try this one...

ESP B-4 jr

its a 28.6" scale. looks just like the ibanez mikro, but its pbass not a pj. it has 24 frets where the mikro has 22 i think and only $189. have the 5 string version. it's aweome, especially for how much i paid for it!

if you could save up another $250 ish for a shortbass which is a stripped down version of a birdsong... you won't regret it! so fun to play! i have a fretted and fretless version!! save save save!!! it's worth every penny if you ask me...

but so is the esp!! and the warwick!!

We considered a pickup swap but after a studio session we decided to keep the stock passive MEC's. being fairly open sounding they allow for a lot of "tone" room and are very flexible.

She is actually having a warwick short scale custom shop thumb being built because we liked it so much haha.

100% agree... didn't have to mod her... sounded great stock... so why did i do it? lol... because i can... plus i'm a big lace fan...

put the mec bridge into another pj bass and now that one just sings!! put in a phase switch and wholly mackerel!!

but back to the topic at hand...

ESP B-4 JR... super duper cheap... super short... super fun... killer pbass tone
Warwick... it's a Warwick... close to your price range... super fun... really good stock tone
Shortbass by Birdsong... a little over the price range... killer tone (check youtube)... it's gorgeous! can customize... it's a Birdsong on the cheap!!

Kramer Duke.jpg Dano Longhorn.jpg Without breaking the bank? Dano Longhorn (as someone suggested) - around $500 w/case. The new Korean ones are pretty darn nice; I have one (a lefty, too!), and it works just fine. Or, if you can find one; A Kramer "The Duke". I have one of these, too. I paid about $600 for mine, but it's a lefty - those are scarce (especially in the condition mine's in), and there's always a Lefty Surcharge...:whistle: A nice righty is usually a little less, even with a case. And don't let the size fool you; the model with the twin Dimarzios (like the one in the picture), combined with the aluminum neck, is a tone monster. And the base model (one humbucker) is no slouch, either..:)

Not sure if this helps but I just became aware of the Dean EVO XM bass. 30", 24 frets. $199.00. I am leaning to picking one up even though I just picked up a Fender Urge standard. Never have enough guitars....
