When I got my Markbass LM II years ago, it was dead out of the box. Turned out to be a problem with the IEC end of the power cord. These amp companies do not make the cords, they buy them in bulk from their suppliers. Have you tried other IEC cords?

He didn't chime in on the other thread when the first one was defective so I doubt he will here. I'm sure he has bigger fish to fry. I just thought someone here might IM him regularly and could mention it so he could pass it on. As far as customer support ... they'll just tell me to take this one back to GC I'm sure.

I'll just shim/wiggle/brace this one for a thing I have later this week since I won't have time to get anything else in. Then decide if I want to get a TH500 or just go back to Peavey.

The pins in the power supply socket were slightly smaller than the corresponding holes in the power cords that I had. All of the problem power supplies were from the same manufacturer. I dug through a box full of brand new power cords before I finally found one that was tight and made proper contact.
Sounds like the manufacturer got a batch of IEC connectors probably from a different supplier that offered them a deal on some cheaper parts...

In a younger day I did a shot stint with a manufacturers rep firm. One of our manufacturers sold IEC cords (not part of our product line). It is my firm belief that there was a batch of cords in some managers desk that when the UL ( or whoever) testing was done were pulled from a drawer and handed to someone. This supplier/manufacturer supplied cords for many years to a large PC manufacturer.

I don't know if that's what they'll tell you or not. Dave was in on my thread in less than an hour when I had a mismatched grill, which is a smaller problem than this. I would not discount their support until I reached out.

I had an issue with a Aguilar cab years ago, and had great luck dealing with their tech support. That's where I would start... instead of waiting for the head of a company to chime in on an internet forum.

I have to keep wiggling the power cord to find the one spot where it makes contact then find a way to brace or prop up the power cord. After I turn it off and come back to play some more I have to go thru the same routine. The way it was propped previously no longer works.

Hi Phlipper, Push the power cord in all the way. It will be a tight fit in a new amp. You can push it in past the initial resistance. There is a some flex in socket so that it will not break when you pull the power cord out. If you still have problems please contact us at [email protected] I read talkbass; but not always.

Had the same problem with TH500. You have to push the ac cord in real well. You might think it's in but it's not. Pushed mine in real well never been a problem since.

It was in all the way. We even measured the depth of the receptacle against the exposed cable end. Checked this one, too.

I took it back this morning and will just lug the Monster Friday night.
