I have a Hartke 210xl that I drive with a Carvin BX250. I love the sound. If I expand the setup a to a second cab, should I get another 210xl or should I get the 115xl?

Get another 2-10" and stack them VERTICALLY.
I have done it both ways. Get another matching 2x10. I found I don't have to change my eq when stacking a matching 2x10. I also found it to sound better overall.
That's what I've read. Seems to be in vogue right now. Truthfully I was leaning towards the 210 cause it transports so well.
Add an another 2x10.
My "go-to rig" these days is all Ampeg- SVP-PRO Preamp, B2-R Head and two SVT-210HE cabs. Sounds GREAT.

I kinda like the looks of a 15 with a vertical 2x10 on top with a micro head. Plus it gets the gear sniffer's panties in a bunch

Maybe it is "in vogue." But if it is (& I agree that at least on TB it is; elsewhere I kinda doubt it), it's in vogue for great reasons. It allows you to hear yourself better by being taller & it projects better by being in an array.

Here we go again. It's been at least two days since we had this debate.
There is no debate. The matter has already been settled - right from the very beginning. It's just that many are beginning to discover it only now.
There is only scientific fact...and unsupported opinion.

I'm going out on a limb, and saying others will counter you, and that someone else will bring this exact thread in less than week.
It's good to have issues like this talked about. The more people know about the advantages of pairing identical cabs the better.
