2x10 wiring question...

Hey guys, I have an issue that I hope some of you can help me with. I've aquired a pair of Hartke Transient Attack aluminum coned speakers (8 ohms each) and a Legion Sound EMI210 cabinet w/ original tweeter, which is also 8 ohms. The Legion Sound website says that the tweeter is a 4" cloth compression HF horn driver w/internal 6db per octave crossover. Is there a way to wire these components up to make either a 4 ohm or 8 ohm load or would I be stuck with what I calculated to be either a 2.67 ohm load (parrallel) or a 5.33 ohm load (series/parrallel)?

BTW, a 1st order high-pass filter virtually guarantees a blown tweeter. 3rd order is the minimum acceptable.
 
Don't include the tweeter in the impedance calc. It's sitting behind a crossover so it shouldn't figure. Wire the two hartke drivers in parallel for a 4 ohm load (or series for a 16 ohm load).

I agree with Bill that lower order crossovers are more likely to blow tweeters, but the specs make no mention of the crossover frequency. The higher the batter for a 6dB slope. If it's high enough you'll be less likely to blow it, but at the expense of the tone. You might actually get away with it in this case - those aluminium drivers go higher then a typical speaker so the hole in the freq response might not be as pronounced.

I say try it. if the tweeter blows, replace it and upgrade the crossover to a 3rd or 4th order.
