2x12 cab + 4x10 cab - Which one on top?

I can't argue with the manufacturer specs although the Vd is directly related to the surface area of the cone so a bigger cone usually means more air movement. Very cool information. I was blown away by the difference in the two. Thanks for the specs. We bass players need to move a lot of air! (Pun intended)

Vd - No, it not that kind of VD. This Thiele-Small parameter is the Peak Diaphragm Displacement Volume which the total volume of air the cone will move. It is calculated by doubling Xmax then multiplying the result by Sd (Surface area of the cone). The higher the Vd figure is the better it is for use as a sub-bass driver.

Its the product of Xlim and surface area. Its not just "Sub bass", its a pretty good indicator of actual content below 150hz or so.

Do whatever you want stacking wise. No matter if the cabs do not blend well together on paper - it's all about how you hear your bass tone. Some people think the 410 and 15 sound great - good for them. If you like it, play it.

I will share my experience with mixing the SAME BRAND bass cabs.

I had an Eden 212xlt and Eden 410XLT that I used to combine at shows and it was just terrible sounding. The tone was strong in the 200hz region, lacked in clarity, had decent low end, and I was unable to control the tones coming out of the cabs. Boosting a little bit around 2khz resulted in the 410 sounding better while the 212 barely did anything with a 2khz boost. I was running both cabs on a power amp (channels A & B), so I was able to set the 212 right before it farted out and was able to set the 410 much louder. After a few shows like that, I got rid of the 212 and got another 410. I was finally able to control the bass tones. Both cabs were loud and if I boosted any knob, I got the same sound out of both speakers. The sound overall was clearer and everything Ik liked about the 410 was reinforced with another 410.

Without an active xover the 12s sound scooped mids 15s and 12s translate well 28s and 22s translate well if you can play as loud as John entwistle his 12s ran at 16 ohms in the cabs
I ran an acoustic 301 against a Traynor guitar cab 2x12s bi-amped acoustic 330 running the 301 150 acoustic the 2x12s musician stingray iv all passive no active xover I installed a an unbalanced XLR and the factory 1/4 were the amp feeds guitar was active wind guitar volume up 6 it'd push you across the room ahh the glorious 80s

I spent an afternoon with Victor Wooten at a seminar his backline new Hartke 410s and 15s he stacks his in an x pattern or both 15s on tip according to the room and what he wants to hear that day
15s are the most versatile speaker for bass ever the problem were the volume wars with the guitar players and sympathetic drum triggering because of such the sound techs would pull bass players out of the mix Oops well they had the power and they used it and played at jet engine volume all night
15s will do everything you want if you know where to put them when and how to RESPECT the other players without pissing off the P.A. guy 15s@ 8 are bright with a lot of snap 15s @4 warmer and rubbery right where the band needs ya
The new tech with 10s is great too 15s carry up to 30 feet 10s carry about 10 to 12 in relationship to the drummer happy playing kids
