Is there much of a difference in sound using 2 - 12's (either one dbl cab or 2 singles) vs. 2 - 15's (dbl or 2 singles)? Do the larger speakers really make a difference from 12 to 15?
They sound very different to my ears. I'm currently using a Peavey 2x15, and it's just sounding way too boomy to me. I like the sound of 12's and 10's much better, much more punchy and more controlled low end.
Very much so, IMHO. A 2x12 is really just a single cab, the smallest that can get the job done.
A good 2x15 is much closer to a 'stack' (comparable to 6x10 or 8x10 sized cabs).
