3 Leaf Audio GR2 Vs. Proton

Anyone had a chance to compare the 3Lead Audio GR2 and the Proton? I'm looking for an envelop filter and was narrowing it down to the GR2, but man it's kinda pricey. Was wondering if the Proton was near as good as the
GR2.

Thanks for those links, however there is very little there about the difference between the two sonically. Anyone own both? I would like to know how the two pedals work with fuzz, do people like it in the loop of the GR2?

Just about everything I've tried in my effects loop on the GR2 sounds better than before or after it.

GR2 is the way to go.

After picking up a GR recently I concur that the loop is indeed the place to put my fuzz. The Cusack Screamer Fuzz works particularly well with its heavy gate on higher fuzz settings - and when placed in the loop the quality of the fuzz is not at all hairy or even discernible as a separate effect as it blends perfectly with the filter. Highly recommended - I'd be interested to know what other effects - fuzz, octave, etc. people have found to work well in their GR loop.

3Leaf Groove Regulator - Super fat sounding pedal but for me it had an issue directly opposite of the Q-tron. 1) It's fat but doesn't get super wet. 2) Despite it only having four knobs they don't seem to really do much. I actually had this pedal for a while because it sounded great but I couldn't quite get it where I wanted despite the amount of time with it which is why I sold it ultimately. Great pedal, but not for me. I've heard plenty of folks sound fantastic with it (including Spencer). Keep in mind that Spencer made a GR2 which has a wet control and some other fancy upgrades. I'm sure I'd like that more.

3Leaf Proton - Love this thing! It's basically what I wanted the GR to be. More aggressive, wetter, funkier and still fat sounding. Really the only downside is that it only has two knobs. I like knobs. Not too many but I think 3-6 is a good number of knobs on a filter. However, thanks to that lack of knobs and it's general plug n' play nature, it's easy to dial in a tone that you dig and do so quickly. I actually didn't own one but had one for weeks... maybe months on loan from The Behndinatorz. I didn't buy it only because at that point I had three filters (SA BEF, Chunk 00Funk Mk. II, MXR BEF) and couldn't bring myself to part with any of them. Soundwise, it's something like a fatter sounding more refined (in terms of the overall package) Q-tron+ XO.
