I noticed the same thing today with those two pedals. They're basically made for each other it seems, unintentionally of course but I got a really punchy overdrive tone from the vmt and the lbb.

Please excuse my ignorance but could someone explain the benefit of the effects loop to me and what effects I would want to place in it?

You'd typically add an octaver and/or a distortion pedal in the loop, for synth bass type sounds.
The benefit of the loop is that the pedals you put there don't affect the dynamics of the filter opening and closing, something you may have to adjust if you put the pedals in front of the filter.

You won't be sorry. The only thing to keep in mind is that for the most part, the EQ is pretty subtle. Don't think it's not working. It is.

November is soon....tomorrow. I've already replaced my small pedalboard with the larger one to have space for Octave....and probably sell my Proton to get WL because of the exp pedal. You manage our wallets Spence 
My situation is a little different. My big board is finished and not really changing, but I'm making a small board with the octave and an enabler. All moneys must go to 3 leaf!
LBB #57 arrived on Monday and it is a very useful tool to have on hand. So far I have used it with a small treble boost and very small bass boost, to push dirt harder and when palm muting. I also have it set up to give me unity volume when switching the compressor off and LBB on - a more aggressive and crunchy tone than with the compressor on.

Used the LBB for the first time in rehearsal last night. Great little boost. Mainly using it to push my B7K into a little more dirty area, and love it for that. Can't wait for the octave to come out

Pulled the trigger on an LBB even though I'm still not sure how I'm going to use it or fit it on my board for that matter. I feel sick yet excited at the same time... is that a symptom of something maybe?
I see lots of comments about using it to push an OD. What kind of OD pedals are folks using; is everyone here a VMT fan due to the previous connection to 3leaf? I'm loving my SansAmp VT, but haven't spent time sampling much other stuff.

I actually use mine after the VMT, I have the gain down a little for cutting mids and bass and treble boosted a little.
This is my slap setting but I also found it made the VMT more transparent sounding, I think the VMT naturally rolls of highs and has a mid bump.
This allows me to have a more aggressive VMT only tone and the LBB tames it.
Also tames fuzz as well making it sound more old school.
However I think you are right, most boost before the OD, this is just another option that works well for me
My LBB is towards the end of my signal chain, and I use it when I need a little extra oompf, like when I'm palm muting, favoring the bridge pup, or just playing closer to the bridge.
I think it would be a great pedal to feed into and push an OD, but I usually just use another OD pedal for that
For OD/fuzz/dirt, I currently have on my board: ss/bs TAFM, ss/bs Mini, 3Leaf You're Doom, Catalinbread WIIO, and a Tech 21 Vt Bass. I often use them in conjunction with each other
In any case, I'm sure that you'll dig the LBB. Like all of Spencer's pedals that I've used (4), it translates really well in a band setting and on the gig. His ear for EQ points is spot on.
I set my OD pedals on light dirt settings and use passive basses so it is effective for me to use the LBB to push the pedals (and amp) a little bit harder for some more grit - B3K, Barbershop, Tone Hammer amp.
But I have only had the LBB for 5 days so I haven't gotten around to trying it after the OD pedals yet, it might work even better

I love my VMT but I find that I'd like a little more bottom umph. Was thinking of adding a MXR 81 or a SA programmable eq. Would the LBB give that bottom end push without killing the edge I like so much from my VMT?
