3Leaf Audio Club - Episode 2

I love Spencer and his products via 3 Leaf Audio. The Pike Amplification stuff has me feeling a bit weird though. I will continue to support his 3 Leaf Efforts but there is yet to be a dirt pedal that can touch Darkglass for me, personally.
I'd personally love to see Spencer come up with some synths goodness!

There is a thread where people have already argued about, and then moved past these feelings. Spoiler alert : they conclude the pedal sounds very different, and to some better.
Spencer, like many manufacturers, has pretty much sworn off TB after the ****-show that's gone down over the new Vulcan pedals. I don't blame him a bit because a ton assumptions were made and conclusions were reached that had no basis in reality whatsoever. That sad thing is that a couple of TB members I've grown to respect were part of the lynch mob and I would have expected much better of them.

Yep and in that thread it states he addresses it in this thread, which he did. I've been here a while, I know how things work. I'm also not here to argue about the drama.

BTW the buffer/bypass switch on the outside is gold. You can go from a one tap synth machine with every pedal in the effects loop, to using each pedal individually. Just gotta get used to remembering which way I left the switch... last couple gigs I've been stomping pedals then realizing the buffer switch was off.

And yeah, my Enabler will have to be pried from my cold, dead, hands. It's a fantastic piece of equipment.

I'm about to take the plunge on an octave pedal and have basically narrowed it down to the Octavbre. I already have a Wonderlove, that I'm never going to part with and will eventually upgrade to the new version, so I figure the Octavbre would be equally as good in terms of quality and what not. My issue is I don't have a 3Leaf dealer in the area to go and try them and the sale that I'm thinking about taking advantage of ends today.
My question...What is the mod to the tone knob that makes it the 'Tim' tuning, what is the difference between a 'Tim' tuned Octavbre vs the original, and has their been a general consensus as to if one is 'better' than the other?
Any input or experience is greatly appreciated!

I can't answer your questions, but you can probably snag an excellent condition one from the classifieds here at TB in the event someone here can't satisfactorily answer them before your store stops it's discount. Chances are also good a used one here is still cheaper than the discounted one.
Thanks! There's one in the classifieds that I have been eyeing, but the sale I'm trying to take advantage of would put the pedal just $6 more than the used one here, and is new with warranty. I took advantage of this sites pre-Christmas sale and got a brand new B3K for $20 less than I could find used online!
I know it's really last minute so, if I don't find the info I'm looking for, I'll just use my gut and pull the trigger on the one I think will work better!

Here is a comparison that was posted way back in this form:
I very much like both sounds, but did send mine back to Spencer for the Tim-mod after watching this video because I liked the cleaner, more defined octave notes with the entire tone knob range. However, I suggest having a good listen to the video a few times and making your decision on that. Either way, I doubt you would be disappointed.
Check out #135 in this thread for Spencer's explanation and some discussion.
In short, I'd say Tim tuning is more classic OC-2 throughout the tone knob range, whereas original tuning gets very gritty and synthy as the tone knob goes CW. (I've described it as almost like a built in dirt function.)
I ended up sticking with the original, but of course tastes and use cases vary.
