Letters are overrated
So here is a strange question, when you are shipping pedals, aside from recycling old boxes, do you seek out form fitting boxes or do you just ship them in whatever the post office offers?
Whatever, with a poopie ton of packing paper or bubble wrap.
I tend to save old boxes of various sizes, kept broken down and out of sight. I’ll find the best candidate for whatever I’m shipping, plus packing materials, and cut the box down for a better fit. Shipping is calculated on size and weight.
USPS has a priority box that’s around $13 flat rate. You could probably fit two pedals in their respective boxes in one of those, or one pedal and a load of bubble wrap.

I ship everything in priority flat rate padded envelopes, since they're like $8.50. Aside from stuff like wah pedals or multi-effects units, those padded mailers will fit pedal + box + extra layer of bubble wrap. Also, you can order any quantity of those mailers to your door for free from the USPS website.

Hopefully they will be for sale direct again sometime soon so we can skip the crazy prices. I kind of miss my Doom2. The letters falling off my Octabvre keep me busy for now...
I would shoot for a V4 just because it's stated the envelope is the same as the Chromatron, just minus the features

They're different for sure. It's been a few years since I last owned the V3, but I remember it being very MuTron-ish without the heavy dose of grit. The V4 is cleaner and I think a bit less dramatic at extreme settings. The phrase that always gets thrown around with the Chromatron/Proton V4 is , "it's very musical." Honestly, I take that as it's hard to make it sound out of control or sh*tty - which I end to agree with. I think the V4 is a bit more fleixble and open sounding. The previous Protons have a bit more of that vintage/distinct vibe, at the cost of some versatility. Hopefully that makes sense...
WELP, I got a used proton v3 , but seems like the gain pot is ever-so slightly wiggley.. Is there a way to tighten this ? the 3 other pots are tight as expected
Wiggly as mounted to the enclosure, or the actual shaft/pot is sloppy (I assume and hope it’s the former).
Pop it open and check the tightness of the nut on either side of the pot shaft.
