Yes - there's an internal true/buffered bypass switch that makes this possible.

The MS60B plays into it set up to be a homemade "GatedFuzz" preset, with the standard OC-2 going into that, and then into the Wonderlove, its reallly killer. I haven't put the pedals in the Wonderlove effects loop yet, sadly out of pure laziness, but I know it will be incredible when I do. The Wonderlove beat out the Super Fatman just because it has insaley great sound, and is still very versatile (just not quite as much as the WMD). The sound quality won for me.


The OC-2 Synth Mod is really awesome for some drum and bass jams, which is really all I do with my one buddy. He plays break beats, I play synth bass (or we try to at least). Throw a key in there and it would be very sweet.

It only plays at one volume which is very very loud, and the volume knob on the bass basically only acts as a threshold parameter (or maybe a tracking sustainer, if you will?) - when the bass volume is up high literally touching the strings will make the synth mod crackle. I actually play it into my Zoom MS60B set to a homemade "OctoSynth" preset which is really just an EQ set with the volume cut a little bit. It allows for the bass volume, synth mod, and amp volume to mesh to be a good threshold/volume/tracking sustain all around. I also adjust the other eq parameters a little to get a little more bass if desired, or maybe a little more treble depending on what I'm going for I guess.

One pretty sweet thing about the one I got, which I got in a trade on here for an MXR BOD, is the guy who made it used a three way toggle switch, where as I understand most people use only a 2 way. Usually with the 2 way toggle its either standard OC-2 or synth OC-2. With the 3 way toggle it can be a standard OC-2, synth mod OC-2, and with the toggle in the middle its just a clean boost. Good bonus for the very beginning of my pedal chain. I would suggest it for anyone wanting to do the mod given that the OC-2 should generally be first, or very close to first.

It also has a blue light replacing the standard red.

That's great. I like reading/hearing how people use their gear, so you could write a six-part series for all I care! I considered trading my BOD for that OC-2, so I'm glad that you're enjoying it and getting good use out of the mod. I have a TAFM on order, so I'm going to wait until that, and all of my other newly purchased pedals, get their proper dues before I start buying more pedals. At least in theory.

I think about buying a TAFM all the time. If I ever buy another fuzz that will be it.

That YouTube video sealed the deal on bass guitar sounding like an actual synth to me. Great video, I go back and reference that video all the time.

Oh yeah, that video is so awesome. Definitely gonna try to get all of thosepedals. I think he plays through an IE Subterranea as well now.

Talking about that guy's video inspired me to stop being so ridiculously lazy and adjust my pedal board to stick my MS60B and OC-2 in the Wonderlove's effects loop to try to mimic that guys synth sound. After a little bit of that I figured I'd make a loop and cut and paste something together and this is what came out:



Very poor editing, sound quality, playing, I know, give me a break it was only an hour and a half. The wonderlove effects loop rules.

Not having played an envelope filter before would you start with the Proton or Wonderlove? It would be more of a novelty pedal for me. I don't play any music that requires it. I just want to try messing around with filters.

Based on what you've said I'd vote for the Proton. I'm not a connoisseur of filters but the Proton is easy to dial in quickly and get a really nice, usable tone out of.

From what I've read the Wonderlove may be a little trickier to tune in which I why I opted for the Proton originally (and the size).

I originally had a GR2 (which was prior to the Wonderlove) and replace it with a Proton.

While the GR2 had some great sounds, it was just as easy to get unusable sounds from it. I find I need to work at it to make my Proton sound bad.

I'm not an EF connoisseur, I only use it on a few songs. I want something that sounds good and is easy to use. He Proton does that for me.

I think it might be fun to list the songs you've successfully used the You're Doom on to "nail" the synthy/fuzz sound, so I'll start us off:

Hysteria - Muse
Next Girl - The Black Keys
Seven Nation Army - White Stripes ( very subtle, but it appears about midway into the song)
