3Leaf Audio Club - Episode 2

Amp repairs have me looking into selling my Doom 2, which is a bit sad. It's a bummer when a pedal you enjoy might not be available to you again. It's nice to see Spencer producing more, that might make my chance a bit better. I don't generally sweat selling gear but this one has me thinking hard. What have peoples success rates been for picking up a Doom 2 these days?
Easy to obtain for a lot of money. Near impossible to obtain at a fair price.

It definitely affects the Chromatron and some Doom 2s as well. I don't recall any Protons with the issue.
@labeledbass has a Doom 2 that's just a black enclosure (bottom row, between R-1 and BEAD) lol
Oh, it's going to have labels soon lol, a couple different options as well. My labels will never run away from the pedal, unless you resurface the entire case..

Christmas day

Really? matching tissue paper? guess that's better than a pick, sticker, sticker, hemp bag, sticker, canvas bag, sticker, rubber feet, Jelly of the month club, sticker...
I really like the matching tissue paper. It's magnificent presentation. I don't care for all the random swag some builders toss in (picks, decals, earbuds, etc.), but--to me--the matching tissue paper is one of those small touches that says "this is a premium product" precisely because it's unnecessary. It's just thoughtful. Nothing more.

It's long been clear that Spencer is all about the little details with his pedals. He seems to value and enjoy small refinements to both the circuits (hence 4 versions of the Proton) and the aesthetics. That's why he got so excited about the steel enclosures in his first update regarding these 9 batches. And why he wrote so enthusiastically about the Royal and Gold colors for the latest Proton drop. It's why each batch has a different color scheme, just as previous batches had their own aesthetics. It would have been easier and cheaper to do 300 pedals with the same finish, but he opted for 100 pedals and 3 finishes. This is another way of highlighting that.

but... WHERE'S THE PREAMP?!?!
lolz
benefits of being an international customer: your Octabvre MKIII is from the reserved 50 that were not tied to a preamp

International customers don't get the best onboard bass preamplifier on the market with their Octabvres? What a terrible marketing decision by Spencer!

I got to order the Octabvre and Proton when I purchased the Doom2.

At this time, there was no discussion about the preamp.

BUT I still consider getting one, so I would not have bothered having one in the package haha.

« Oh no ! I am sorry, I was FORCED to buy it ! » finally a legitimate excuse to legitimate my purchases haha

You get it! This drop taught me how foolish a customer I've been all these years. From here on out, if a pedal doesn't include some variety of preamp, then I won't buy it. (And yes, even if the pedal itself is a preamp, I still need it to come with an additional, on-board preamp.) If my incoming Reverse Mode C doesn't include a preamp, I'm sending it back to Joel. If the upcoming PLL drop doesn't include a preamp, then Josh isn't getting my business. Preamp or bust!

This guy gets it!
