I do feel that the Mini has considerably more bottom than the MKIII without the Tim switch engaged, so I'm sure they're onto something.

I agree with this. I've mentioned before that my Mini really crushes our subs on the PA (or any PA for that matter). I think its awesome, the sound guys, not so much. I will say that the Mini's available tones are superb, tracks great, and really blends well with other effects drive and fuzz.

That's funny. The one group I'm in that has a dedicated sound guy absolutely loves my Mini. Whenever I turn it on he always remarks on that "deep and growly" pedal.

I want to know what happened to the octave up idea posted before the mk3 came out. I had real hopes for that. Also, I've had 2 mk3s beside each other, and a mk2, none of them really sounded the same, with the same variables

I have no insight other than analog octave up is a different animal and doesn't sound the same, or at least not what most people expect. I'm guessing Spencer wasn't pleased with whatever versions he tried and bailed on the idea.

This is true, analog octave up tends to sound somewhat distorted which can be cool if thats what youre going for but maybe thats not the sound Spencer wanted which is why the concept was abandoned? But who knows, Spencer comes off as a perfectionist with his work (something I can greatly appreciate) maybe he's working it out preparing to drop an updated & expanded octavbvre with a $500 price tag

I love my cog t65, mixed right, an octave down and up can alleviate the need to mix a fuzz with your octave to get a synthier tone. Everyone was so excited, then along came this little pedal with a cramped topography lol - most mk2 guys switched over for the realstate, but I wish I still had mine. I'd even go for a mk1 and add the Tim mod

octave fuzz? IMO COG R-1 is one of the best ive tried and preorder slots are now open at the cog site right now. this one has earned a permanent spot on one of my boards and continues to deliver a bone crushing,face-melting,saw-yielding fuzz that i alwys look forward playing.

Regarding how close the Octabvre could get to an OC-2: I only own a Mini and a Broughton Subsonic for the comparison, I don't think they're really close. But the Mini does have a fatter low end. Here they are with the Mini's Tone fully CCW:

Ive not used the Barbanera in a loop, does that remedy the gain issue? I had a MF-101 for a time so I knew what to expect with the gain of the Barbanera but I like that its true bypass & can run off standard power supply.

I have both the MF-101 and the MF-102 in individual true bypass loops that I got here from Loop Master:

1 Looper (Micro, LED Version)

Totally isolates the gain so it's only on when the pedal is and removes any bleed to pedals downstream. I probably wouldn't use those pedals if I didn't have the true bypass loops, the always on gain is nice sometimes but not constantly

Spencer might also be taking some time off around the holidays. December usually marks the proper start of ski season here in the Seattle area, so he might be taking some time off to get into the backcountry in December as well. I don't know if any of that is true, but I could see him putting a gap month in the release schedule unless he's specifically said that he won't elsewhere.

Well, he specifically stated all 900 pedals would be released this calendar year in the initial announcement. So perhaps ??? means three drops lol. But I doubt that will happen and that's fine. I'm all for Spencer going skiing. That's what I'd do.

EDIT: here's the actual text. Definitely says "this year's releases" but also estimates "roughly one release per month."

Seems like Octobvre is a missed marketing opportunity although who needs marketing when the product sells so quickly?
