Its simple. It does what the LA1A does for me, pretty much. I got to the point where I preferred it, given the smaller footprint, and it does real well if you wanna run two comps. I liked it toward the end of the chain. It’s hard to describe other than i like it better on than off. A real simple effective use of compression for me is to run the Alma early and the PC2A later.

The FoxRox stuff, is it geared more toward getar? I know many of the clips showcasing it seem to be on the 6 string variety, and is that a -2 octave sub?

However I do like the LPF on the octave down, not many people do that.

It’s definitely geared more to geetar. I’ve got the smaller bass pedal, and it has limited octave down capabilities but the octave up could prove useful.

I’m going to revisit my Octron 3. I was looking for a specific stand alone Octave, and didn’t spend much time with it. I got distracted in that i went pedalpalooza along with the Octron- i think i picked up three or four other pedals and forgot about octave.

Give it a shot. It is a truly unique octave voice. I didn't even talk tracking, but it tracked as low and accurately as all my other analog octaves. I never tried the 3 though, so take that with a grain of salt. My experience was with the 2 and 4. They should be the same, but my disappointment in the 4 left me wanting to go back to the 2.

Lucked into this. Was having trubba with the octave before i plugged the GT in the chain. I do not know how or why; square waves are funny- is there a sawtooth involved here? Irregardless, the GT turnt my signal into almost a flutelike thang second position and held pretty well on the “E”. It was consistent, it just lacked a little bottom, which i can always address. Anybody got an idea why this works?

Octron 3 is dope, still one of my keepers.

Based on all this chatter, I visited a guitar demo. Based on the sound of the octave up in “pure” mode, I bought the last in stock Octron 3. I’m expecting the cleanest analog octave up I’ve heard. We’ll see.

It was always dirty for me. Best of luck. The octave up is akin to the EQD tentacle in my experience.

I’m not expecting clean, but it sounds less distorted than other implementations I’ve heard.

The Octron 3 is definitely a keeper pedal for me. It's dead simple to use and tracks great! The upper octave sound is a usable octave fuzz My only gripe with it is that the lower octave isn't as subby as other bass-centric analog octavers.

hi guys, I searched but couldn't find dedicated breakdown anywhere - what is the consensus of OG You're Doom vs Doom 2? Is Doom 2 strictly better i.e. has same sound/function + an upgrades (like your/you're switch)? Or is it just different?

Supposedly, D2 can cop OG tones, but folks with both have mentioned some differences. Better is strictly subjective. Having the D2, I really like the flexibility afforded by the your/you’re switch and the eq. Also, remember that there are now TWO versions of the D2, which should sound different from one another due to the higher crossover fq and gain.

I had an OG You're Doom and a new Doom2. Sold the OG as I couldn't hear enough of a difference to justify having both. I could get very similar sounds with the Doom2, and it had more tonal variety with the MID and Treble knobs. There is a difference, but not any that I would notice in a mix, or stacking with other pedals, which is what I mostly do with the Doom.

That’s what it was! Someone here told me that the D2 shined more when stacking with other pedals compared to the OG Doom. Conversely, OG had a better sound as a standalone fuzz than D2; but Dooms don’t seem to be held in as high regard in that area when compared to standard fuzzes. Just opinions.
