3Leaf Audio Club - Episode 2

Should I grab a regular Tallboy button or a Tallboy Mini?
Get a regular v1 tallboy. You get more color options that way and the extra surface area is pleasant to step on.

Here's my old MKIII with a mini tallboy and mini v1. I think the mini looks and works best, but maybe you need more area rather than just height. In that case, the regular buttons would work fine, but they'll jut out slightly on the sides and nearly touch in the middle.
The standard size Barefoot Buttons do not hang over the edge. They are just short of the edge, maybe 0.5mm from it.
Are those Barefoot Buttons? They look like a different brand to me.

Nice! The blue with red looks sharp. Yes, mine were Barefoot minis.

Highly recommend snipping the little tab of the protective plastic (upper left corner) off of the Peterson mini. So it doesn’t catch on something and peel off. I almost lost mine that way.

Thanks - I actually already removed that, the Black Oxide Octabvre MKIII, and two other pedals later in the chain. This photo is from summer 2023 when the Strobostomp Mini had just come out. Since then I've swapped in an Icefall Octabvre MKIII, a different XD finish, and a couple different drives. I should probably take an updated photo lol. But I haven't which is why I had to crop photos of an older version of the board to show size of the Barefoot Buttons.

lack of love for this effect- only 100 made, defines the term-“Tone Sweetener”, I don’t expect the novelty to wear off anytime soon. View attachment 5367644
Reminds me of a simplified Harmonic Booster, without Character and mid controls. I wonder if the 2 are related, given the history of the 2 brands

Wow, that was dark! Is Spencer in shambles?

I mean, he's not wrong. Doors should not be coming off planes in mid-flight because of loose bolts. The pursuit of evermore profit has meant that corners have been cut in (certain) manufacturing, infrastructure, and maintenace areas for some time now. So while I am firmly against disingenuous preamp bundling and tied sales, I'm all for Spencer being transparent about challenges in production as well as his quest for perfection and its manifestation as incremental changes in his pedals.

I recently did a shootout of 4 excellent octave pedals, and I have to say that the Octabvre Mk3 came out on top overall, for my tastes. It's a keeper.
  1. 3Leaf Octabvre
  2. Broughton Broughctave
  3. Broughton Synth Voice Deluxe
  4. Broughton Subsonic
Of those you tested, I also put the 3Leaf on top. But I have a little Cog Effects T16 that also shines. For me it's a toss up between the Octabvre and the T16.

I really like my new Octabvre Mk III. I also regret selling my Cog T-16. I plan on buying a new T-16 as soon as they’re available again, and doing a shootout between the two.
