3Leaf Audio Club - Episode 2

I had been laid up for awhile due to a hand injury and tonight was the first time that I really got to sit down with my Doom 2 and play thru it.

Man ....

What a pedal. I'm no fuzz expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I can't imagine there being much better than this. I FINALLY get it when people talk about a "synthy fuzz." It's just divine - i mean, if a pedal could be such a thing.

It pairs so nicely with the Proton, and it actually pairs REALLY nicely with a DOD FX25 for cool synthy sounds. Tomorrow I'm going to drag out my GR2 and try it thru the effects loop.
Oh nice I hadn’t tried it with the fx25 yet, that’s a great idea

Do tell! I'd love to hear how they compare and if the Wonderlove is worth tracking down ...

I finally had time to try it out! Definitely really cool, and surprisingly different from the Wonderlove.

I think I do prefer the depth of the sounds you can get with the wonderlove overall, especially with the loop you can put an octabvre and doom 2 in (or whatever) while keeping your playing dynamics in tact. The controls also make a bit more sense to me, as far as controlling the filter

This proton will be great when a need to run a smaller board, though. No complaints!

Do people pay that kind of money for them?

I’d be surprised if that were the case, but I think it’s too soon to say. There’s only been one other Mk3.33 for sale, and it’s still listed at a laughable $2.5k (the seller has to be joking). MkIIIs have been averaging above $500 this year on Reverb, and one sold for $650 last year (the highest recorded in the Reverb price guide).

Spencer will be doing another big drop in a few months. And unless the next drop lasts for days—highly doubtful—there’s a good chance he’ll do another big drop before the year’s end. Prices will likely eventually cool off like they did with Doom 2.
