Re-discovered my love for the Proton recently. Was having trouble with getting the filter to open and close how I wanted it to, and it had been replaced by a Filter Twin. But, positioning the Proton earlier in my signal chain helped me bring out the best in the Proton by getting it closer to my playing dynamics (duh). It was sounding so good last night! Had the funk face going all night long....
Have I killed the 3Leaf thread?
So quiet on here...
Waiting on Rusty news I guess...
What I also noticed is that I always had problems running it after the B7K and/or VMT Deluxe (used as a mild always-on overdrive). It just didn't react that well (or maybe I was just to dumb to adjust it right).

I do the same, except with an MXR BOD instead of the OC-2. Works very well. Proton to VMT does a fantastic job of copping that Sir Psycho Sexy tone.I was running the darkglass VMT after the Proton last night and was loving the combo together. For me dirt usually works best after a filter. OC-2 > Proton > VMT got me into some pretty gnarly territory!
Viking, I'd be interested to hear what the rest of your setup is... I run my input and gain significantly lower for unity volume, but my main basses are pretty high output. Are you using the PWNZOR to boost your signal?
My settings:
Input: 9:00
Gain: ~9:00
Attack: 1:30
Ratio: 10:30
Vintage switch down

What do people think of the You're Doom? I want some kind of fuzz...
And can do a great old-school synth effect tone quite well too.
Octabvre artwork on the FB page...
This! I use it in both my 12-piece 70's funk cover band and the 15-piece urban gospel outfit I play for. I use it in front of my Proton for synth stuff, and by itself for low-to-medium gain dirt. Like Down_Low said, it's quite flexible with more than dynamics. I use it for subtle overdrive style dirt, but it can do a pretty thick fuzz too.
It took me a while to get comfortable with it as I'm not normally a fuzz guy though. I kind of had to work to wrap my head around how I could use it and then get it dialed in. Now that I've got it though, I'm not sure I could go without it on my board...?
