1. Ratio around 9 o'clock and the rest of the controls depending on my mood. Vintage setting on. I like a really slow attack if I'm playing a P bass with flats and a faster attack when I'm using my Jazz bass.
2. Beyer DT-770's are the best I've found, and I've tried many.
It's just the OC-2 with the -1 oct dimed and the -2 octave and dry knobs at zero.
Tim uses it in a couple places in this song. The first is around the 32 second mark.
Here's another example. The bass on this Nerve track (at least to start with) is straight OC-2. Bass kicks in around 35 seconds.
Spencer's new octaver has me really interested for a few reasons.
(1) The sub only stomp. I like setting up my OC-2 as a normal octaver AND as a -1 octave electronica tone machine, sometimes even in the same song. It'd be nice to not have to be fiddling with the knobs all the time.
(2) I like that it goes above unity gain on the octaves
(3) Supposedly it is a blend of the OC-2 and MuTron (my two favorite octavers) tones.
Now I just want to hear that it has a little more headroom than the OC-2 which can get pushed too hard and fart out with high output active basses or any too strong of a signal from upstream. If that's also part of the Octabvre design then I can't see how I can avoid buying the Octabvre.
PS - the graphics look fantastic.

When I read this thread lately, I find myself thinking about David Bowie's last album. It was released out of the blue. No preamble, no hype, no one even knew he was making a record. "The Next Day" sold quite well. Right about now it strikes me as a refreshing concept.

I've used those deblur filters and they are somewhat cranky and difficult to get a result from. So, always assuming nshuman is not messing with us, then it is indeed awesome detective work.
Well, if you try yourself, just understand that you are not dealing with motion blur from something like camera shake or movement. The blur in Spencer's pic is due to a shallow depth of field in the picture. This is typical when you do macro photography or any extreme closeup.
You need to use a filter and enhancement method that is slightly different. Often, you just get edges and outlines as a result. In this case, that text is big enough and close enough to the focus plane to get something out of it. I will not be able to get any detail further up on the image. I am sure somebody at the NSA could, but I do not work at the NSA.
