I've been meaning to check out a Funkulator because my main gig (11-piece funk cover band) does require some slap. So that's where the Black Box will start for me. That would be enough to hang onto it, so anything else I can use it for would be icing on the cake really. I also want to see what it does if I have it before my You're Doom and boost signal into the dirt. :)

I've pretty much always used a boost of some kind, mostly for those slap or harmonics situations. I have one on each board.

That's some good input. I'm looking forward to seeing if the Little Black Box is something I can use. I avoided the Funkulator because it's a tad bigger than what I have available for pedalboard space, but the LBB can slot in where my Polytope currently is. I've never really used a boost before, so I'll experiment. My initial thought is to use it as a "slap switch" to thicken my slap tone.

I'm going to use mine as a gain switch in edition to the enabler. A little expensive for that but it's a one off and it's 3leaf... and this will be essential for my church gig. The sound men have a problem turning up the gain on me because I play passive basses. I already know there's gonna be countless applications I can use this in. I'd choose this over another eq/boost because I like spencers eq points he used for the enabler, and it's almost half the cost..

As big as an Enabler + Black Box combo would be, it's not nearly as big as some other alternatives to have a full preamp/di + clean boost.

Cool. Ordered one last night to go along with my old Groove Regulator and a Wonderlove in my I-need-a-You're-Doom collection. Like many here, I think Spencer builds some of the very best effects. In fact, I've owned my first-run GR longer than any other pedal--expect I'll always have it around.

Spencer: if you have the time and don't mind, what's different or cool about your new design? What need does it fill for you? In other words, what inspired you to come up with a new EQ/boost pedal?

I can use one. Was considering the EQD and others when the LBB became available. So I'm happy if it's just something similar with 3Leaf-quality, but I am curious about the backstory. Thanks.

I like simple designs and wanted to make something that fit my needs without doing anything more. I have a few passive basses that I wanted to give a little bump, and I wanted an EQ with a treble frequency that was high enough to basically give me the sound of playing fresh strings.

Depending on the cables you use, a Mooer might be almost as wide as any of Spencer's current small pedals. At least, my Polytune Mini is, with the cables I have. I've checked out other cables too... George L's, Lava, etc... And they don't save enough room over my Planet Waves kit to justify changing everything out. Especially since all but two have top jacks so it doesn't matter much anyway. Top jacks for the win. (the order has changed slightly from the pic below, but it's the most current I've got)

If you're using those Hosa (?) flat pancake cables or maybe the new EBS ones, might make a difference.
