3Leaf Audio Club - Episode 2

I'll put mine first in the chain and move my M87 to last. I'm looking forward to seeing what this does for my SVP-CL and VMTD

Wouldn't having a boost before a compressor be a bad idea? I know on the M87 I set the input of mine to a certain spot, however a boost would change the level of the input.

I'd also think you'd want a boost after a filter (if using one) as you've got the same issue with the input. I've found a boost after a filter works great though, allowing you to add something extra to it when needed.

Of course if using the 3leaf boost more for the EQ than boost, than none of that should matter.

Depends ... maybe you want the boost to affect your drive pedal(s) for a different sound but not necessarily change the output level too much. Some put their compressor last to tame or limit the total output, especially if you have a somewhat wild filter in the chain.

Would depend on how much compression you use / playing style.
Slight compression should work fine

I use my M87 for very slight compression, mostly to fatten things up a bit. I also don't currently have a filter, but I do want to see what it does to the effects I have in my chain. I'm also only using a passive bass. Still, I'll probably switch things around until I'm happy.

I keep thinking of buying a Fairfield Barbershop as an always on, subtle, low gain OD, and then sticking an LBB in front of it to push it into higher gain territory with a little treble boost when I want to get nasty. Sort of a two channel Barbershop.
That's my plan too, except I'm going to try it with my Phat Phuk B for boost when I get it back. It's hardly a clean boost though so if it's not doing what I'm planning I'll consider a LBB.
