Man, I'm still on the fence about this little black box. I want to wait until your guys's initial impressions start to come out before deciding, but I'm afraid he'll sell out!
Anyone tried the YD as an overdrive?
Quite like the sound I am getting with the tone at 4 gain at 10-30 mix at 11and volume at 10. Shape is down.
Got me wondering that two Doom stacked would sound like too...
Very tempted...
YD to me is more of a analogue synth sound than OD. Which is pretty good thing because the market is full with various ODs and fuzzes but nothing like YD has been here before. I use mine a lot with Proton now and in some settings it can get very close to my Akai Deep Impact synth which is close to $1000 on a used market now. So what I would do is as soon as Octavbre is released I buy it and put together with my B3K, YD and Proton on the board making it a complete bass synth combined together and any of them on its own as independent effects if used separately. Than I can just sell my Akai Deep Impact and it saves me some $$$I'm finding it really has a wide range of tones. Full on, or just there. It's not the same as overdrive, to my ear, but you can be subtle with it if you want.
I'll ask himSpencer, I saw Victor Wooten trying the YD. What were his impressions of it?
Hafta try 18V with mine.
You can run a Proton on 18V?!?!
