Matteo, I'm not too sure why you see a problem with strings tension. Do you foresee any weakness in the neck? Looking at the measurements you posted earlier it looks perfectly fine and I would expect it to easily handle a heavy gauge. If in doubt, I would have added carbon fiber spars. I think you'll be fine with a standard .40/.100 or .105.

Just to add to the choir - a deposit on a commissioned build is good practice. It keeps both the client and the builder focused. No matter how little it is, it's the proof and guarantee of a commitment from either sides. Talk is cheap, you know ;)

I like the accent/binding at the sides of the neck, and how you echoed it in the headstock laminations.

As far as the layers at the side of the neck, was that your idea, or is it a CT thing? I was thinking of doing that on my first bass, but took another direction instead.

I did the same thing on the very first bass I built. It didn't turn out as nice as this one though. I'm not sure Carl Thompson did that too but I wouldn't be surprised if he did.

That makes me think... out of the box ideas on neck construction aren't many really and they don't seem to go mainstream. Probably because they are hard work. But there are. I'm thinking of Linc necks for instance, to me, a piece of art. Of course building something exactly like that would be patent infringement. But great ideas should be able to inspire more and new great ideas. Oh boy... I went on a digression again... :)

Now i don't see any problem anymore, i think my neck can hold 40 (and more) Lb per string! Thanks!

I just use different color, but it's a CT idea!

But Thompson did not make laminated neck like mine....

Good advice, but i'm not a pro, this is only my sixth building, and i'm not totally sure of what i do:-P

If you are charging someone to build them a bass, you are a "pro"... even if a small time pro. Get a deposit... always. You need the deposit to cover the materials, and your time is valuable too.
