I dd find the pic of the bass on what insinuates to be Ol' Leo's workbench a bit laughable. Sorry, EB, that's G&L's exclusive property, and if I were them, I'd be fairly pissed about you trying to "back into" that legacy. Shame on you.

Considering the 40th is a replica of a bass made by Leo (probably on that bench) for Sterling, I'd think they'll be ok with it... Pretty sure Leo would be ok with it!

Now I wonder if they'll do a five string P. They definitely have their sights set on Fender with the strat and P models. Combined with MM quality, they should be very, very nice alternatives.

That was the first thing I asked my rep when he told me about these. I'll do some more recon but he's at NAMM now and probably won't respond anytime soon. Lucky guy.

Given the dozens of well made P/J basses already made, I doubt if a MIA Music Man P/J is going to sell like hot cakes because it will $1,500 street at minimum. I seriously doubt if it will be twice as good as a MIM Fender Reggie Hamilton Jazz. Given what Music Man basses cost, why not make 18 or 19mm at the bridge, active P/J for $2k street. That would be a serious alternative to Sadowsky, Lull, Xotic, etc.

Possibly. But, even then, if they are going for the "vintage" Fender market, I don't see them adding the 4 band EQ. It'd probably be the 2 band. Which, after typing it, I would be more intrigued by that than initially thought.

Yeah, that's one thing that really turns me off about MM instruments. Very stingy on the wood grain.

Depending on the price that is. EB seems to target a higher bracket than I'm usually comfortable spending.
