410 & 115 OR on their own??

For sure man..Only bad thing is that 90% of the time a bass player is running direct, I forgot to put that in there.. So if there is a pa, your great sounding amp just turned into your monitor. But I agree if it is done right I love it...

Just duct tape your instrument cable into the input of the amp before heading over to the gig. If the soundman looks like he's going to try to take it out and plug into a DI box, stop him and claim it only works like that.

It may not make a difference to an engineer, but I use mesa diesel cabs. 1x15 and a 4x10. The 4x10 i use by itself for smaller gigs. I add the 15 for outdoor jobs but the 4x10 alone sounds better alone. I also remove the wheels so it makes contact with the floor, mainly because you get the floor vibrating from the cab it makes it feel louder. I like to feel the notes i hit going to my feet!!!!

NO MILK CRATES EVER!!!

But ... but ... but ... if I gave up my milk crate they might revoke my Redneck Bass Club membership card and all the perks that go with it :bawl:

I currently only have a single 15" cab but would like to add another cab for use at outdoor gigs and these threads are very interesting to me now. I'm thinking that maybe another 15" or a 2X12 will be what I get. (I can think on this and surf Craig's List this winter and hope to find what I want by spring.) I've tried my 15" with a borrowed 2X10 and although it was louder I did not like the sound as much as a single 15.

the only good thing about the redneck bass club is the beer, and you can get that on your own ;)

second matching 15" is the way to go imho. if you like it, nothing succeeds like success.

Sorry bro..... in reality..milk crates might be the only thing. I am not kidding here. AS much as they may be poo-poo'ed. I can think of a few clubs where all you can do is milk crate the amp because theres not enough room to tilt the cab back.

There a club in Washington D.C. like this, one in Georgia, a couple in Chicago..these clubs are all over.

Milk Crates *rule*. Who cares what they look like?

THAT SAID...

To get a 4x10 to ear level, you'd need a bunch o milk crates which might be less than stable...

Nah, a 1x15" + 4x10" is plenty high, methinks.

But why are you only looking at GK? They are NOT the only brand out there...

I currently have a Behringer BX4500H 450-watt head running into a Fender Rumble 4x10 cab. Just picked up a Yorkville 1x15 to go with it. Head puts out 450 watts, the Rumble cab is rates for 500 watts, and the Yorkville for 200. Any reasons why this setup shouldn't work? Live, it's gonna be mic'ed up thru a PA, and it's plenty loud enough to be heard over a drummer and 2 guitarists in the jam room

I’ve had 2x15’s back in the 80’s, bi-amp 2x10 on top of 1x15, even a 4x12.

After all these years, depending on gig - it’s some combo of 10’s (2x10 - 4x10 - 8x10) that I’m rockin.

I just love the low end articulation of a pair of 10’s in a well designed cabinet (Ashdown, Ampeg or GenzBenz).

As for raising the cabinet off the floor to ear level, that’s what monitors are for... In ear wireless are pretty affordable now days and worth every penny...

My advice, move away from your amp while performing and find a sweet spot where you can hear everyone best!
