5 Favorite Bassists?

steve-bailey-warwick-530-75.jpg

A little off-topic. But, still...........

How in God's name can Steve Bailey actively endorse multiple basses at the same time? :confused:

Just to name those who influenced me the most, and whose influence remained strong:

1- Jaco Pastorius (the one who first made me listen to bass - and he brought me to #2;
2- Jerry Jemmott (I heard him in countless records);
3- James jamerson (well, what more to say...);
4- George Porter Jr. (THE SOUND, although I became a J player);
5- Carol Kaye, for reading her books and listening to her picking made me understand a lot of things about good pop music and pick-playing;

And the guys on the other side:
Eddie Gomez, for the rhythmic displacement in comping and the melodic quality in soloing;
Gary Peacock, for "I don't give a damn about technique";
Charlie Haden, as above, but in a completely different way (and still I try not to copy him when I'm down on technique);
Paul Chambers, for you can't avoid him;
Ray Brown, for he was the greatest funk player on DB;
