I would think a DGCFA# would be more useful than a EADGC tuning.

I have a bass tuned that way, its no more useful than EADGC, unless you're playing a whole pile in D. Which I'm not.

I did think that DGCFBb(A#) with a drop tuner for CGCFBb would be very cool, almost covering the range of a 6er.

Man, Charnett is the bomb, I caught him a few years ago with the McCoy Tyner trio, he was killing it the whole night. They actually had Pharoh Sanders and Ravi Coltrane sitting in on the gig...

Wow...'nuff said.

One of the best-ever LIVE bass perfomances I've seen was a 'pick-up' band at our then-half decent Jazz Fest.
