I have 2 older Ibanez basses. One has the stock bridge, the other has a Kahler. I need to replace the stock bridge, but not looking for another Kahler. Any suggestions for a black, 15mm 5 string bridge? Trying to avoid individual saddles, looking for a standard bridge. Thanks.
Wow, fast reply! Thanks. Don't see spacing listed there, though. Also, unsure about the seller. China, you know. Any experience with them?
Unfortunately, tighter spacing bridges seem to be hard to come by. My Hipshot bridge adjusts down to around 16 or 16.5mm I think. I would love to go narrower though, can't stand the huge 19mm that some people go for!
The Schaller 2000 will go as narrow as 15mm. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f18/narrowest-string-spacing-bridge-855164/ http://security-locks.biz/hp193121/Bassbridge-2000-5-strings.htm?ITServ=CY74523862X13ff3aade12X65c7 Best price I've seen: http://dguitarparts.com/inc/sdetail/431/513
Thanks for the additional replies. I was unaware of that Schaller bridge until last night. Looks good, but as expensive as the Kahler, and likely almost as heavy. Have also seen some negative reports re: durability. Definitely thinking in the price range of the bridge Ric 5 posted, but unsure about that seller. And yes, narrow spaced bridges are not that common. Not easy to find.
I used a Schaller roller bridge on an SR405 and it was perfect. I didn't know Ibanez had fivers with string spacing less than 16-16.5mm. Learn something new every day.
I have owned about 10 of those ... they are ok ... medium quality ... it is around 15mm +/- I have used several of these when converting Rickenbacker 4004 basses into 5 string basses. Kahler will work but they are more money .. The Schaller has the roller wheels ... the max setting is about 17.5 mm the min is more like 15.5mm Both the Schaller and the Kahler will give you better tone than the medium quality Chinese bridge.
