Yep, I'd like to find out more about that bass too...pickles said:That japanese fender sounds interesting ... any links?
EunosFD said:Okay, I found the FJ 5-stringer I mentioned in my prev. post. It's called the PB-130MD5 and the band was The Mad Capsule Markets. Here's a page with it, but their prices are usually quite high:

If it fits the bill then I'd recommend contacting Ishibashi to order one as it should be quite a bit cheaper. HTH
Basswood???appler said:The Takeshi Ueda bass was on Ishibashi's website until about a week ago. I emailed them and a sales rep. got back to me right away. The body is basswood and the neck is maple with a rosewood fingerboard, 34" scale. It also comes with a bunch of stickers (not attached) which vary depending on whether you get the four string or the five string model. Other than that, it's just a five string Precision. The price is 104,000 Japanese Yen and shipping to the USA is about 14,000 Japanese Yen. In US dollars, that's a little over $1,000.

Seems like it would need to be alder to really get a decent P Bass tone...
Just not a fan of it and personally I would be reticent to pay $1K plus for a bass made of it without trying it first and seeing how it sounded.appler said:No offense, but what's wrong with basswood? As I understand it, its tone is very similar to alder.

But, at the same time if I really dug the tone it produced, I wouldn't care if it were made of cottage cheese. So I won't write it off based solely on that single fact.
