5-string P basses?

SnakeAnthony - Guitar Emporium is certainly the place to be in Louisville. I go in there to noodle on things I can't afford now and then. Right now I'm in Lexington though for school - if you ever find yourself in Lex, check out Willcutt Guitar Shoppe - it seriously beats GE. And that's no understatement, I love this store. Tons of basses and variety. (Now if only they carried Yammies...)

Whats good in Bowling Green? my grandparents live there so if there's a store I wanna know about it, there's nothing to do at my grandparents anyway :p

Just now noticed you responded to me on here:D

Here, nothing amazing. Been to Willcutt, and your right its awsome. But nothing here comparing to GE or Willcutt. My shop of choice is Kentucky Music, on Russelville road. They've got a decent collection of all around instruments. Mainly guitars, but a lot of Fender basses, both US and MIM, then a few peaveys, a few 'wicks, and a few Ibanezs. There are others, I just cant picture them in my head. But yeah, next time your in town here, check KY out. I may even be in there:D

Then there is Musician's Pro, and what road its on escapes me, sorry, but they do have the Yammy models your talking about, the P/Js. Probably a 5er too. They'er all set up pretty badly though. If your seriously looking, go in, ask one of the guys to set it up for you and give it a run over. I was impressed by the Fretless P/J Yammy, and one of the properly set up 4 bangers. So I doubt the 5 will be disspointing.

Godin Freeway 5
i wait for "mine" for 5 weeks we have really "great" guitarshop in prague....nice prices but, shop assistants are really bad, not bad the worst I ever seen....
so i still wait, wait and wait....and think about alternatives :D because im not sure if i wil get godin :D in this lifetime

Okay, I found the FJ 5-stringer I mentioned in my prev. post. It's called the PB-130MD5 and the band was The Mad Capsule Markets. Here's a page with it, but their prices are usually quite high:

If it fits the bill then I'd recommend contacting Ishibashi to order one as it should be quite a bit cheaper. HTH

Oh, also saw a US Masters EP5 P-bass over on TDP earlier today which is a 5-string P and is def in your price range. No affiliation with the seller.

So far, I like Chromes the best on it, nice, tight B

Hah wow, look at this, my old thread back from the dead.

Well I suppose you guys might be interested to hear that I went ahead and decided on the Yamaha BB415. I also posted a BB415 thread a bit ago saying that MusiciansFriend sent me a dud (aesthetic flaws), but I had some nice time with the bass before sending it in for an exchange, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. Excellent fit and finish, a neck and string spacing to die for. A killer B as well, something I was worried about (it'll probably get a set of chromes after the original set wears out). Not only that, I'm thankful for deciding to opt for getting a P with a bridge pickup. I just got back into Jaco for some reason.

The new one I'm being sent hasn't come in yet but you can be sure I'll make a thread for it once it does, pics and all. Thanks for all the suggestions, that Fender Japan Sig is sweet looking.

It's really not that old of a thread. LOL :)

I've had people respond to my threads that were over 3 years old and I didn;t even remember posting it. :)

I guess what I mean by old is, old enough to where I already decided and bought a bass and this thread had no more use to me. :p

but I suppose if anyone wants to continue talking about 5-string P basses, live long and prosper heh

a friend of mine has or had a Samick 5 string P/J. Not sure how much it cost him or where you could get one ,but they exist.
One flaw with the Fender P-5 is that the split coil splits leaving the A string on the bridgemost coil with the D and G strings instead of the neckmost coil with the B and E strings.
