5-string vs. big room

Next month my band has a gig at a brew pub that has high ceilings and reflective walls.

I was thinking that my 5-string might be too boomy for the room and may stick with one of my fours while playing the low notes on the higher octave.

AFAIK, there will be no soundman or PA. We'll be just running amps.

Is this the best approach?

That's a good idea. This may turn into a regular gig and a HPF seems a great solution to tighten up the low end in such a room.

Well, it turns out that they have a house PA and sound guy, so I'll probably just bring the 5 and not worry.

I'm sure I'll be playing other boomy rooms in the future. I hadn't thought about using compression.
