5 years later - am I wrong?

I would have gotten my gear immediately .... 5 years after the fact is kinda...

I would have showed up at the dudes door step with a "Hey !! How ya doin.. Hey I just came by to get my gear thanks man.. ! " after the first round of un answered phone calls and VMs..

OP, I feel for you, but how do you know the SM57 you see him using was in fact yours?

Decades ago there was a guitarist I took some lessons from, who later saw my crybaby wahwah pedal, and insisted that he had lent it to me, and it was his. Well, I never lend nor borrow equipment, and we had never played in a band together, so although he probably honestly thought it was his, it wasn't. Just another mass-produced apparently identical pedal.

So... Just keep in mind that maybe you're mistaken.

Well, whenever I used it, it was patched into the board with a purple XLR - exactly the same as he is doing now.

hey buddy, lemme know where and when they're playing next and I'll take it back for you hehe
or send him a bill, 5 years mic rental at $2 per day = $3,650 AMEX and VISA accepted.

or at their next gig "Hi we're XXXX, a one a two a one two thr..."GIVE ME BACK MY FAR KING MIC!"keep yelling this non stop for the whole gig hehe

How do I know you're not the new bassist?;)

Anyways, I'm not going to get all upset about it. Just movin on...

Really? Seems petty on both sides. It's a mic, stand, and cables..
Really inexpensive and utilitarian devices!

Here in Oz an SM58 will cost you $120 minimum, a bottom line cable $30 and a crappy stand at least $60. Would you just accept it when someone steals $210 off you??

In saying that, unless Cronker knows that they would have been taken care of well you can assume the lead is probably now crap (i can't believe how many musos have no idea how to roll a cable) and the mic full of spit.

I'd probably take BazzTard along to heckle them at a gig just for fun though :spit::spit::spit::spit: :laugh:

Never leave your stuff! One of my bands was obviously on the verge of splitting and I took my half stack home, which I usually left there, and just said I was taking it home to "modify" it. Within the next few days they split over some dramatic dispute I chose to remain neutral in. The person in the house we practiced in cut off contact. Luckily I saw the end coming and got my stuff out before it was trapped there. Never leave your equipment with an unstable band!

In your situation though, I'd come to one of their gigs and just take the stuff back when they're packing up (or setting up if you're devious).

hehe done! your buy first !

And just for variety,I'll also yell out "Freebird" and "Mustang Sally" hehe made myself larf just then......

C'mon Bazz. I thought you were an Aussie. You should be drunkenly yelling out all night long "Play Khe Sahn!!!" or do they do that already??

Unfortunately i'm a little too far away, but if I was in Adelaide i'd be there!

I drank underage at many many Chisel shows in my youth.

From NYE at the Old Mariner Hotel,Hindley St 1977, I left before they finished, when I found out they played Wild Thing I was shattered.
My ears are still ringing from seeing em on a Fri and Sat night at the Arkaba coz my mate wanted to be right in front of MOSSY

I recently found a guy on facebook that I sold a bass to back in 1979. He had only made a few payments, and stiffed me for the rest, and I called him out, ready to get paid. He responded that my mom had come and gotten the money from him, telling him I had charged some gas on my dad's company account, and she was going to use the money to pay him back.
He was absolutely right, and I remembered that from 35 years ago, and we had a fun time talking about old times.
But if he wouldn't have told me that story, I swear to God I was going to get $500.00 bucks from the guy.
