Neat amps if you can get your hands on one to try!! I use it in place of my V4B or my B15. Perfect middle ground between the two amps with an efficient cabinet.

I posted the following in the low wattage tubesters club thread. I know almost nil about these things, so I hope you mind me posting it here as well. I don't know where it belongs, or how many watts it will produce when it is going, I'm guessing 50 watts give or take 10.

Hi, just got a tube amp but know not which club it belongs to.
It is an Eminar (Australian) from, at a guess, the late 60's to early 70's period. I'm told it has 2 6L6 tubes - which need replacement; the travel case was lost sometime during all these years and a ply box had been fashioned for it, which I'll likely paint with Duratex, apart from that all it needs is a power cord and it's good to go.

So, 2 6L6s equals ??? 40, 50 watts???

(Just for background Mark Evans used a 300w Eminar valve bass amp for AC/DC in the mid 70s.)

So for now I'm trying to learn about the do's and don't of valve amps, in general and this amp in particular. I've never used a valve amp as yet. Could it be used as a pre amp? Or are they different animals entirely? I'd love to have a cage top for this one, one day I think...

I guess I ask for a number when I have it going?

I'm in with my V4B - 100 all-tube watts is absolutely perfect for me. Through two 212s, I get plenty of clean volume and, when the volume creeps up during the night, I start getting that sweet, creamy tube overdrive. Perfection.

I'm interested: is there much of a noticeable volume difference between the EBS and the Fender?

I would say no, maybe the Fender is a little bit "louder" if you want clean sound at high volumes. The Invalid Link Removed sounds different than the Invalid Link Removed, more "darker" and more defined.

I have a '73 Bassman Ten combo-50W 2x6L6. Love it!! Replaced the speakers with 1980s G10S-50 Celestions and replaced the master volume with a variable negative feedback knob. It's amazing with guitar, but holds it's own for lower volume bass. It's particularly well suited for slightly twangy Bass VI use.

i just received my blackface fender bassman ten. i used to own a silverface one and now have the later model with is 70 watts UL. sounds good so far, it will be nice to have the fender tone but on the portable

you all know what the bottom 2 are, the top is a clone of the bass side of a 63 bassman 6g6-b circuit, 50 watt.
bottom amp is 100 watt.

im surprised more people arent drooling over my 63 blonde bassman clone! its really a stellar amp and a unique and unusual circuit that you really cant find anywhere today! and its small!

Hey, can anybody weigh in on my current predicament? I'm wanting a 50 or 100w orange head (or even the AD30, I mean it's class A!), but I can't play through any of them. The OR100 looks particularly wonderful, but I've never even seen one. The AD30 sounds amazing with Tom Petersson playing through it, but he uses an AD200 along with it for low end, no idea how it would cope on its own. Any opinions/experience would be lovely!

Hey, Jet City 100hdm makes an amazing bass amp. I just got mine today and through all the testing I can do in a basement apartment (I did open it up pretty loud) it beats so many others I've tried. The clean channel really reminds me of my old silverface bassman (ab165) but you can get that grit at low volumes instead of eviction-worthy levels. Aaaand it gets really loud. I'll bring it to band practice if I can fit my cabinet haha.

I've been using a DOD 250 for overdrive for a while and I love it, I'll still use it to boost the clean channel - but the overdrive channel is exactly what I've been searching for. I play in an extremely bass driven punk rock band and there's no traditional rhythm guitar, so huge overdrive is necessary. This thing just delivers. I mean, it's designed by soldano, how can it not? Keeps the transients super audible though, very dynamic overdrive.

Also, I got in touch with Jet City before ordering and they said the output section can definitely handle bass frequencies.

Anyways, I love it. Nothing feels missing, everything honestly feels exactly as it should for me and the sound I've been reaching for. I'll probably get a hot rod 100 next.

PF-50T and PF 112hlf. Head's basically a 20 lb. V4B with half the wattage, and that cab screams. This is my day-to-day tube amp, although sometimes I still cheat and take a little SS combo With my oldies band, I use it with a clean sound and its output transformer DI, but with my new experimental rock/jazz 3-pc, I'll be pushing the power tubes into light overdrive and micing the cab. And that way I can get enough volume for a small-medium bar with some real tube grind, cover the stage on the bigger gigs with good PA, and not blow the place out.

Blackface Fender Bassman head (1966). Bought this one from a friend about 1985, we the matching 2-15 cab.

Early 70's Traynor Bassmate head (the EL84 version) & matching 1-15 cab.

A homegrown 50-60 watter I hobbled together out of a Bogen CHB-50 PA head. Actually sounds pretty good and has more headroom than the fender.

Ok I'm in with a very rare early 70's Polaris amp which was a Sunn 200S clone. Internals are a DynaCo Mark III amp. I have yet to re-speaker the cab. Right now it has a pair of Rola 15"s that don't sound very good. I plan to put something better as time and money allow. It's kind of a long story but I gigged one these in the seventies and always missed it. My old cab had D140's in it but I plan to put a more modern spkr in.

B25b was 55watt with 2 15 cts speakers. Same head as the b15s . Sounded very similar to my 72 v4...
