It certainly won't hurt anything running fuzz. Even at full volume. As long as your speakers can handle it.

50w-100w Valve Owners Thread

Here is my 68 or 69 (date codes appear to indicate 1969, but several things I've read indicates it might be earlier: cloth wiring, drip edge, circuit, etc) Bassman:

I fully restored both the head and cab. Head just needed cleaning and an electronics refurbishment. Cab needed a complete overhaul: new baffles front and back, new Tolex, corners, feet, and lots of wood filler. Couldn't find an accurate replacement for the original grill cloth so i went with blue stripes instead. Originally had the "drip edge" trim on the head and cabinet, but it was too damaged to salvage and Fender won't sell me replacement pieces.
It gets more use as a guitar amp than bass amp however. It's a "little" too big for a bass practice amp, but not big enough for a stage amp.
I've been contemplating whether it might work with a really efficient big cabinet. I'm thinking a 2x15 with Faital 15PR400.
Edit: does anyone else far prefer the "Normal" input to the "Bass" input on these? I find it easy too boomy on the Bass channel.

My own recent build from a Conn 541 organ amp-a '68 B-15S hot rod. It's pictured running big bottles for the first time. It's what happens when a guy like me wants more of a good thing and boy does it deliver.

A friend of mine has made several guitar amps out of old Bell & Howell "Filmosound" projectors. Turns out the power section is almost identical to a Deluxe Reverb on some variations of the circuit.
I doubt it. I'm surely no expert in these matters, but I can safely say that I've never damaged anything in my 30+ years of using fuzz & drive with my tube amps.
Speakers are another matter. Keep en ear out for them.
Afaik you only need to be concerned for tube life being less when constantly overdriven. So using a pedal for overdrive might actually be more economical.

That makes sense, given the fact that Leo Fender's original circuit designs follow RCA's tube application notes faithfully.

Definitely worth the cash. I've done the usual rotation, Mesa Walkabout, Tonehammer 500, SVT 7Pro, Demeter Preamp/Crown amp, etc, and nothing compares to a real tube amp. Schaller KV35. With two EL34's. It has two jack chassis on the back. One for input one for output. The amp has 4 channels But well... Bass needs only one. If you remove the old DIN chassis a jack chassis exactly fits.

I guess I'm in with this Dynacord Eminent II, though the preamp is solid state. It's rated at 80 watts from a pair of EL34s run at around 740V. This seems to be a later model, it's marked 1978 inside and they discontinued this model in 1979. I haven't gigged it yet, I want to re-cap it before I do that. It sounds good though, very clean and clear sounding.
I have a '73 Bassman Ten combo-50W 2x6L6. Love it!! Replaced the speakers with 1980s G10S-50 Celestions and replaced the master volume with a variable negative feedback knob. It's amazing with guitar, but holds it's own for lower volume bass. It's particularly well suited for slightly twangy Bass VI use.

I'm interested: is there much of a noticeable volume difference between the EBS and the Fender?
